In the midst of a tropical storm, the Washington Nationals (77-50) will try to overcome a small stormy patch of their own in a two-game series against the Miami Marlins (58-71) at Marlins Park. The Nats have lost their last four straight games, and they will be eager to return to their winning ways on their final trip to Florida of the season. The Marlins have historically been a tough team for the Nats to claim W's from, though; the Nats have won seven of 13 games in matchups against the Marlins this year.  While these two games might seem like a pretty inconsequential series, especially against a team that is 20 games behind and in last place in the division, as we turn the corner into September the words clinch and playoffs start to apply to every series. Also, with the Atlanta Braves heading to San Diego to face the NL West fourth place Padres (60-70), a win for the Nationals in Miami will mean they can maintain their comfortable five game lead over the second p...

Bryce Harper Hits The Farthest Home Run Of The Season

That’s a Clown pitch, bro. Bryce Harper used his best non-verbal body language to send that message to Miami Marlins pitcher Jacob Turner after Harper hit one of the longest home runs of the season.  This is just epic. Harper hit another home run to lead his Nationals to an 8-4 victory.

Long Road Trip Ends With Win

The Miami Marlins are headed home after wrapping up an eleven game road trip on Sunday.   The Marlins finished the trip with a 6-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers to bring their record to 5-6 on the West swing.   The win snapped a four game losing streak after Miami had started the road trip on an up note.  Giancarlo Stanton had a big trip blasting eight home runs along the...

Even for the Marlins, it would be a disgrace if they traded Buehrle

beforeitsnews.com     Its pretty obvious the Miami Marlins are doing what the Florida Marlins did the best: dismantling a team as fast as possible. Its safe to say no player is off-limits; maybe for the exception of Jose Reyes and Giancarlo Stanton. (for now) To this point, the Marlins have traded Hanley Ramirez, Randy Choate, Omar Infante, Anibal Sanchez, Edward Mujica and...

Marlins rookie Turner roughed up by Nats

MIAMI (AP) -- Bryce Harper homered twice for the first time in his career and the first-place Washington Nationals snapped a five-game losing streak by beating the Miami Marlins 8-4 Wednesday night. Harper hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning and added a solo homer in the fifth, giving the rookie 14 this season. He had a chance for a three-homer night but grounded into a double...

Deadline To Deadline 2012

After the continued struggles of the Marlins, it didn’t take much genius to figure out that they would be sellers at both trade deadlines this year. As a quick review of things, this message was sent out early before the July 31st deadline as the Marlins started making deals that eventually led to them trading away Anibal Sanchez, Omar Infante, Gaby Sanchez, Randy Choate, Edward...

Nolasco bests Strasburg in Marlins win

MIAMI (AP) -- Stephen Strasburg pitched as badly as his teammates have been playing. Strasburg gave up a career-high seven runs in five innings Tuesday night and the first-place Washington Nationals' losing streak reached five games when they were beaten by Ricky Nolasco and the last-place Miami Marlins 9-0. Nolasco (10-12) allowed five hits in his third career shutout and...

He had a chance for a three-homer night but grounded into a double play in the...

Guillen says he will alter injury practices

MIAMI (AP) -- Miami Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen says he'll alter his approach next year regarding his patience with injuries. As the last-place Marlins stagger toward the end of a dismal season, Guillen said he has been unhappy with players undergoing lengthy rehabilitations. He said players sometimes have waited weeks before accepting the organization's advice to undergo...

Bryce Harper Dominates In Miami As Nats Break Losing Streak

Wednesday in Miami looked a lot like the previous five games through the third inning. The Washington Nationals were being no-hit by Jacob Turner, the young pitcher acquired from the Detroit Tigers via trade earlier this season. Eventually, Jayson Werth broke up the no-hit bid in the fourth with an opposite field single. That was just the beginning of a much needed offensive explosion...

Sports Tweet of the Week: Logan Morrison Wins the Bartolo Colon Bashing Tweet Award

You gotta hand it to Logan Morrison.  The dude manages to preach about getting wasted on his birthday and now starts bashing Colon and Cabrera all from the confines of his home while he’s chillin’ with an injury.  Should be interesting to see him tweeting mid game when he comes back and talking **** about the pitchers and umpires.   Probably his coach too. You gotta love this guy.
