On the Disabled List

The Texas Rangers have placed their young starting pitching stud, Neftali Feliz, on the 15-day Disabled List. The Texas Rangers made an announcement via Twitter. The reason for the DL placement is said to be right elbow inflammation. The Rangers have called up right-handed pitcher, Yoshinori Tateyama.

Neftali Feliz released a tweet stating that he has no tear, just inflammation. Feliz is 3-1, with a 3.16 ERA and one complete game. From 2009-11, the Rangers used Feliz out of the bullpen. He was highly successful as a closer in 2010 and 2011, recording 72 saves in those two seasons.

Here are the released tweets:

Rangers send Neftali Feliz to DL

The Texas Rangers placed closer-turned-starter Neftali Feliz on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow inflammation Monday, three days after wildness cut short a start and cost the right-hander a win. The Rangers replaced Feliz by recalling right-handed reliever Yoshinori Tateyama from Triple-A Round Rock. Feliz had been scheduled to start Wednesday at Seattle. The Rangers did...

Rangers juggle rotation after losing Feliz for two months

The Texas Rangers are preparing for life without Neftali Feliz. Two days after he complained of soreness in his right elbow, Feliz was placed on the 15-day disabled list with what was described as a sprained ulnar collateral ligament. He will be prohibited from doing any throwing for at least four weeks before being re-evaluated by team physician Dr. Keith Meister. It's unlikely...

Rangers place Neftali Feliz on 15-day DL

The Texas Rangers have placed starting pitcher Neftali Feliz on the 15-day DL with an undisclosed elbow injury. Feliz will be replaced in the Rangers rotation by Scott Feldman. Feliz was having a pretty good season after moving to the Rangers starting rotatoin from the bullpen, posting a 3.16 ERA in 42 2/3 innings. Feliz struck out 37 and walked 23 on the season, but in his last...

Josh Hamilton Needs To Do Himself a Favor and Stay In Texas

Everyone including yours truly is on the Josh Hamilton bandwagon. What baseball fan wouldn’t be? Hamilton may have his sights set on a huge pay day, but he can earn plenty of money and become even more of an inspiration if he stays in Texas for less. (Urban Christian News) “The Great Hambino” After a ‘pedestrian’ 3-for-11 effort at the plate in Houston over the...

Josh Hamilton Showing That I'll Have Another Not Only Triple Crown Threat This Year

Take your pick. While I'll Have Another will now have a shot to win horse racing's first Triple Crown since 1978 after taking home the Preakness on Saturday, Josh Hamilton has a Triple Crown on his mind as well. The Rangers outfielder enters Sunday leading the American League in home runs (18), RBIs (46) and batting average (.384) -- all by a fairly wide margin. It's...

Beltre talks about his banter with Hernandez

SEATTLE Maybe the most entertaining thing about Monday's 6-1 loss for the Texas Rangers was Adrian Beltre's interaction with Seattle ace Felix Hernandez. The relationship between the two goes back to Beltre's playing days in Seattle. When Hernandez came up in 2005, Beltre took him under his wing. Now the two have a friendly rivalry with Beltre's goal to hit a homer...

Lewis pitches deep, collects two RBI in win

I was wrong in yesterday’s post.  The Rangers pitchers do not hate interleague play.  At least not all of them do.  Colby Lewis looked extremely comfortable on the mound and at the plate during the weekend’s finale in Houston. Lewis pitched into the 9th inning, striking out six, walking one and allowing just one run.  Of course, that run came on a home run.  That’s Colby’s...

Report: Oswalt is on Rangers' radar

The Texas Rangers intend to take a serious look at free-agent right-hander Roy Oswalt, the Dallas Morning News reported. Hours after right-hander Neftali Feliz was placed on the disabled list Monday with a sprained ligament in his right elbow, general manager Jon Daniels acknowledged that Oswalt was an option for the Rangers. Daniels on Tuesday once again acknowledged the interest...

Oswalt on Rangers radar

The Texas Rangers are back to searching for starting pitcher after the unsettling news about Neftali Feliz. Feliz was attempting to convert from a closer to a starter and now has an elbow injury, what a shock right. Luckily for Feliz it’s just a sprained UCL not a torn one, so no surgery is required but he will be shut down for a while. The team isn’t counting on him till...

Neftali Feliz: Messing with a Good Thing

In the 2012 season, few players have disappointed on the Texas Rangers roster: Yu Darvish is a stud (2.98 xFIP in his last six starts), Adrian Beltre apparently lied about his age (he’s 10 years younger than previously believed), and Josh Hamilton is using a Game Genie and is 7 homers away — so, like a week away — from matching his 2011 home run total. In the Rangers Machine...

Rangers 6, Astros 1

Colby Lewis allowed four hits in eight-plus innings and drove in two runs, and the Texas Rangers took a five-run lead in the first inning before coasting to a 6-1 win over the Houston Astros on Sunday. Lewis (4-3) capped the Rangers' first-inning scoring with a bases-loaded, two-out single to center field to score two. The Rangers got to Houston starter Jordan Lyles early, scoring...

Rangers 3, Mariners 1

Elvis Andrus lined a two-strike pitch into the left-center field gap for a two-run triple, Josh Hamilton made two tremendous catches in center field and added an RBI double, and the Texas Rangers snapped Seattle's win streak at four with a 3-1 win over the Mariners on Tuesday night. While Hamilton continues to scuffle at the plate, his defense in the outfield remains suburb...

Harrison shuts down Seattle in Rangers' win

SEATTLE (AP) -- Elvis Andrus lined a two-strike pitch into the left-center field gap for a two-run triple, Josh Hamilton made two tremendous catches in center field and added an RBI double, and the Texas Rangers snapped Seattle's win streak at four with a 3-1 win over the Mariners on Tuesday night. While Hamilton continues to scuffle at the plate, his defense in the outfield...

Darvish struggles against M's in Rangers' loss

SEATTLE (AP) -- Ichiro Suzuki and the Seattle Mariners chased Texas' Yu Darvish after just four innings in his shortest start of the season, and the Mariners rolled to their fourth straight win in a 6-1 victory over the Rangers on Monday night. Felix Hernandez (4-3) rebounded from consecutive poor starts to hold the top offense in baseball to one run in eight innings. Seattle...

Bedrock or Rock Bottom?

For twenty-five years, this baseball enthusiast has wondered if the BBWAA made a colossal blunder in voting Steve Bedrosian the 1987 National League Cy Young winner, instead of Nolan Ryan. Thanks to the Factor12 Rating, a more cerebral approach can be taken in assessing pitching excellence during each MLB campaign. ** Here’s the 1987 NL Cy Young Final Voting: Rank Pitcher...
