PLAYERS: Nelson Cruz
TEAMS: Texas Rangers
Nelson Cruz said he has not heard from MLB regarding a possible suspension for his connections to the Biogenesis of America scandal and has not made up his mind whether to appeal or serve it should one be handed down to him. Cruz as he's done all season didn't say much regarding the matter after the Rangers' 14-11 walk-off victory over the Angels on Tuesday. "My only thing here is to play baseball" Cruz said. "I don't have control of that." There have been multiple reports saying that MLB could announce suspensions of players linked to Biogenesis by the end of the week if not sooner. Cruz is one of those players and has been in contact with his agent on a daily basis as to how they might want to handle a possible suspension. No final decision Cruz said has been made.

Rangers still waiting on Cruz news

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Nelson Cruz didn't have any problems with his sore quad Wednesday and his homer in the second inning against the Los Angeles Angels proved it. What no one knows about Cruz yet is if and when he'll be suspended as part of Major League Baseball's Biogenesis investigation. The July 31 trade deadline came and went without the Rangers trying to get a...

Cruz focusing on what he can control

ARLINGTON, Texas Texas Rangers outfielder Nelson Cruz was forced to leave Tuesday's 14-11 victory after suffering a bruised quad after getting hit by a pitch running to first base. Cruz said he was okay after the game physically, but that's not the biggest thing looming over the team's leading home run hitter and RBI producer. Cruz, who's been linked to the Biogenesis...

Lance Berkman is considering retirement

Lance Berkman has not played for the Texas Rangers since June 6 and there is no indication he is anywhere close to returning following multiple setbacks. Berkman, 37, is considering retirement and forfeiting roughly $4.4 million reports Ken Rosenthal. On Wednesday Berkman and the Rangers will meet to discuss his injured need and plan a course of action. A decision is expected to...

Berkman realizes his time to help is running out

ARLINGTON, Texas Texas designated hitter Lance Berkman, who's been on the disabled list since July 7 with left hip inflammation, realizes that unless his hip and right knee start showing some improvement, his season and career could be over. "You've got to fish or cut bait and I think we're getting to that point rather quickly," Berkman said. Berkman took...

Growing likelihood Rangers' Lance Berkman won't return

When the Texas Rangers signed veteran slugger Lance Berkman over the offseason, they knew the injury risk he carried. They thought he'd be a worthy gamble, hoping to protect against significant ailments by using him primarily at DH. However, Berkman's been unable to avoid injuries yet again, and the possibility is growing that he will not play again this season, according...

Rangers DH Berkman not ready to retire yet

Lance Berkman says he is going to keep playing, and will do everything he can to help the Texas Rangers down the stretch. The 37-year-old designated hitter is on the disabled list with left hip inflammation and having issues with his surgically repaired right knee. But he said Thursday that he's ''coming back.'' Berkman had been pondering his playing future...

Jason Bay: Future Texas Ranger?

Texas Rangers’ General Manager Jon Daniels has never been known to sit by idly when it comes to improving his team. In recent years Daniels has shown the tendency to look into players that for one reason or another fit into the mold of a “low risk high reward” type. Players that usually fall into this classification are either attempting to make a return from major injury...

Rangers complete walk-off sweep of Halos

I went to bed sometime in the 7th inning Tuesday night.  I fell asleep quickly but had the Rangers game on. I awoke when I heard Eric Nadel calling Leonys Martin’s walk-off three-run home run.  I smiled and promptly went back to sleep.  I was relieved to check the scores this morning and see I didn’t dream that. And Adrian Beltre kept the magic going tonight with the team’s...

Rangers get another walk-off win

Adrian Beltre led off the bottom of the ninth for Texas with a home run to beat the Los Angeles Angels 2-1 on Wednesday night, completing a three-game series sweep in which the Rangers won each on game-ending homers. There was no doubt about another dramatic victory for the Rangers when Michael Kohn (1-1) left a 2-2 pitch over the middle of the plate and Beltre hit it deep into...

Beltre delivers Rangers’ third consecutive walk-off homer against Angels

Joe Nathan had just pitched a scoreless ninth inning to keep the game tied on Wednesday just as he did in the 10th inning Tuesday that preceded the Texas Rangers’ second consecutive walk-off victory. Nathan took a seat in the dugout next to catcher Geovany Soto and said “Why not another one?” Soto agreed. “Why not?” Adrian Beltre leading off the bottom of the ninth must’ve...

Rangers open second half on wrong side of a sweep

(Photo Source: Jason Miller/Getty Images North America) The All-Star break should have provided the Texas Rangers with an opportunity to recharge and reset before making a push for a pennant. Instead, the Rangers stumbled around the Ballpark on their way to being swept by the Orioles. Here is a quick look at the three-game debacle: [...]The post Rangers open second half on wrong...

Rangers rumors: Lance Berkman isn't retiring

Amid yesterday's craziness leading up to the trade deadline, it was reported that Texas Rangers designated hitter Lance Berkman was considering retirement. The veteran is dealing with several injuries, and it's not clear when or if he'll be back with the team this season. While Berkman's future remains murky at best, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports is reporting that...

Much-Needed Win For Rangers

During the course of a 162-game Major League Baseball season, it could be hard to find a game that would qualify as a "must win," especially in late July. If any team was facing that situation, it was the Texas Rangers on Monday night. Coming off of being swept by the Cleveland Indians on the shores of Lake Erie and having not scored a run in three of their last four...
