The newest additions to the Phillies after a few call-ups and trades are fitting in well with this team. In some ways, that is very good. In other ways, not so much. Here are a few 2012 Phillies bad habits exhibited in last night’s game against the Nationals that they will need to get out of quickly: - Kevin Fransden, a call-up, commited an error at 3rd base, becoming the 4th different Phillies player to do so at the hot corner this year. The 3rd base error total is now 13. - Both Fransden and the newly acquired Nate Schierholtz left a runner stranded on 3rd base with less than 2 outs in the inning. - Josh Lindblom, acquired from the Giants, gave up a hit to the 1st batter he faced. - Domonic Brown, called-up from Triple-A, went 0-4 on the night. But luckily, the bad habits did not break them. In fact, each new player had at least one very nice moment as well: - Fransden recovered after his error and played good defense. - Schierholtz went back-to-back with Jimmy Rollins for his fir...

Schierholtz has nice start to Phillies career

Nate Schierholtz wasn't a happy camper in San Francisco, but you have to believe that his mood is somewhat better now that he's a member of the Phillies. In his first game action, Schierholtz showed off a nice swing, including his first home run as a Phillie.

Dodgers Get Shane Victorino For Nothing They’ll Miss

Okay, they didn’t actually get him for nothing. To acquire the Phillies center fielder (who will almost certainly play left in LA), the Dodgers gave up 25-year-old reliever Josh Lindblom and enigmatic right-handed pitching prospect Ethan Martin. Reports are that the Dodgers felt comfortable moving Lindblom after acquiring Brandon League from the Mariners last night, but in reality...

Nate Schierholtz Makes Phillies Debut as Vance Worley Looks To Give Phils Early Series Win Against Nationals

The Phillies may have traded two-thirds of their outfield yesterday after a dismal first-half of the season, resulting in a fire sale in the Phillie's front office, but they came right out of the gates last night and pounced on Stephen Strasburg to take game one of this three game set. After an 8-0 victory in game one, the Phils are looking to take the series away from the Nats...

With his performance tonight, Vance Worley gave the Phillies exactly what they needed. (AP) Behind three solo home runs, including one from Nate Schierholtz, and a gutty pitching performance, the Phillies were able to grind out a 3-2 victory in Washington tonight. From a 102 win season in 2011 to possibly a 90 loss campaign this year (.447 winning %) and with two of the team's starting outfielders traded away there doesn't seem much left to root for. Oh, but there is...1) Figuring out the bullpen. Papelbon is the closer, but what else do they have heading into 2013? Newly acquired Josh Lindblom is 25 years old and has posted a 2...
