PLAYERS: Chipper Jones
TEAMS: Atlanta Braves

After Jose Reyes bolted New York for Miami, Shaun Clancy, owner of Foley's NY Pub and Restaurant offered disgruntled Mets fans free booze and appetizers in exchange for the shortstop's jersey.

Welp...Clancy is at it again.

When retiring Atlanta Braves superstar Chipper Jones makes his final appearance at Shea Stadium September 7-9, Foley's will be renamed "Chipper's".

"Sometimes you have to tip your cap to your opponent," said Clancy said. "While Chipper has broken the hearts of many Mets fans over the years, New Yorkers are as knowledgeable as anyone and they know greatness when they see it...even when it resulted in disappointment for their hometown team."
In 88 career games at Shea Stadium, the 1999 National League MVP hit .313 with 19 home runs and 55 RBI. Jones ranks behind just Mike Schmidt (60 home runs) and Willie Stargell (60) with 49 roundtrippers against the Mets.
And in case you were wondering, yes, Clancy is willing to offer up free chips (they serve ten different variaties!) for one year to "The Girl with the Chipper Tattoo" if/when she shows her face, er, Chipper's face at popular New York watering hole.
Get on your horse, Megan...that's a good deal!

Chipper Jones calls out Braves fans: Turner Field was a morgue tonight

The Braves are in a tight wild card race with less than 30 games left in the regular season, so at this point it’s safe to say every inning counts. Despite the fact that Atlanta has been in the hunt all season and almost always seems to be in the hunt, they rank in the middle of the pack in average attendance for home games. Turner Field isn’t exactly Yankee Stadium when it...

Chipper Jones honored on last trip to Mets park

The New York Mets have given Chipper Jones a piece of artwork to honor the Atlanta star on his final trip to their ballpark. The Mets paid tribute to the retiring 40-year-old slugger before Friday night's game at Citi Field. Jones was a longtime Mets nemesis. The 3-D art portrays Shea Stadium, where Jones did most of his damage against the Mets. Jones says he isn't sure...

Atlanta Braves Chipper Jones for NL MVP

Atlanta, GA. Atlanta Braves’ Chipper Jones should be the NL MVP for 2012. Chipper isn’t in the top five in any statistical category but is hitting .302 so far this year. He is a career .304 hitter with 1619 career RBI and 2711 hits. I am of the opinion that the MVP of the league should be the player that affects his team the most regardless of statistics. Chipper this year...

Mark Simon Nails It On Chipper

I must have read a dozen or so articles on what Mets fans should or shouldn’t do as Chipper Jones brings his farewell tour to Flushing for one last goodbye. In a post entitled, “Honor Chipper? Not So Fast”, Mark Simon of ESPN concludes with the following: Maybe it seems a bit dopey to say this, but wouldn’t a more fitting tribute be to serenade him a few times with a ...

The Chipper Jones Farewell Stadium Tour

Regardless if you love or hate the Atlanta Braves there is really no way you can have hard feelings towards Chipper Jones. Chipper struggles, but Braves blank Mets

NEW YORK -- Chipper Jones didn't hurt the Mets in the first game of his Flushing farewell, but the rest of the Atlanta Braves made sure he walked off the field a winner again on a night his fierce rivals honored him. Chipper Jones, Brett Favre And Being A Man At 40

McCann's time in Atlanta may be running out

ATLANTA -- There was a time, not too long ago, when I thought Brian McCann would be the next face of the Braves. In my mind, he was the only candidate to replace Chipper Jones as the heart and soul of the franchise. He would be the guy in the commercials and doing the video announcements at Turner Field and spending his entire career in the familiar uniform. Who would be a better...
