Bronx Bombers Report:
The New York Yankees are stirred the pot on top of the Hot Stove a little bit today. It’s not the main course (i.e. Justin Upton or Cliff Lee) but they are moves worth mentioning nonetheless.
I’ll start with the Juan Miranda trade. The Yankees sent Miranda to the Diamondbacks in exchange for 19 year-old RHP Scottie Allen. We can talk about Allen in a second, but let’s start with what the Yanks are losing in Miranda. In 423 Minor League games Miranda OPS’d .845 so he was certainly a solid guy to have in the system. Unfortunately for the 1B/DH, the first base and designated hitter positions are occupied for quite some time. To be frank, he was SOL and his Yankee days were numbered anyway. As far as Scottie Allen is concerned, he’s not a particularly exciting prospect, but what did you expect? Here’s a scouting report.
