As some of the walking wounded are poised to return for the New York Yankees, Mark Teixeira may be another name eventually added to the DL.
Teixeira felt a pull in his left calf while at the plate in the fourth inning of last night’s game and had an MRI at New York-Presbyterian Hospital which revealed a grade 1 strain.
Mark addressed reporters after the game and said it could be one week or two weeks and didn’t know, that just the MRI showed a strain.
Derek Jeter had the same injury last season and he was sidelined for three weeks. These injuries can be tricky and with it being so close to the playoffs the Yankees will take every precaution not to make it worse.
Ironically earlier in the day New York had made a deal for 1B/OF Steve Pearce, who will be joining the team today.
Rosters expand September 1 so the Yankee will have plenty of bodies to get through this stretch run without compromising Teixeira.
