FF Locker Room:
The New York Yankees had to place short stop Eduardo Nunez on the 15-day disabled list this weekend because of a injury to his rib cage. Taking his spot on the active roster is middle infielder Alberto Gonzalez. He is expected to provide depth to the Yankees infield until Nunez’s return.

BEST OF MAXIM
This is scary. Today, the Yankees activated Curtis Granderson from the DL, after announcing that Travis Hafner will miss a few days, because his shoulder is barking, and he's having an MRI.Listen: When Travis Hafner goes or an MRI, you better get his mailing address, because the money question is whether it's weeks or months. That shoulder is going to look like a Doppler...
WHOLE BAG OF SHH
One thing to know about Yankees reliever Joba Chamberlain: he really doesn't like it when he gets shushed, even by the greatest closer of all-time.
DEFENDING THE NAME
Mickey Mantle’s family issued a statement and retained a law firm on Monday to dispute the allegation that the Hall of Famer used a corked bat when he played.
It seems like New York Yankees pitchers’ Mariano Rivera and Joba Chamberlain have made nice and their short lived ‘feud’ is over. The Yankees PR department pulled off a great PR move by Tweeting out a photo of the two pitchers hugging in the clubhouse on Sunday morning singling that all is well.
It was reported that the two got into a tiff on Saturday prior to the Yankees game...
Reportedly, before the Yankees game against the Royals on Saturday, Joba Chamberlain and Mariano Rivera exchanged words in the clubhouse. Apparently Rivera was having trouble hearing the media’s questions because Chamberlain was speaking to loud to his family. Rivera said “Joba! Yo! Bro! Shhh. Stop it.”
Joba was having none of that from Rivera. Chamberlain responded...
The New York Yankees have yet another entry to the disabled
list. On Sunday, May 12, the Yankees placed infielder Edwin Nunez on the 15-day
disabled list due to tightness in his rib cage. Nunez last played on May 5, so
he is eligible to return to the lineup on May 20. Indications are that Nunez
should return by then.
Hoch reported that Nunez strained...
Today, something will happen I never again expected to see:Curtis Granderson will rejoin the Yankees. I thought we'd trade him. Frankly, I hoped we would. Not that he's a villain. Grandy remains a solid world citizen - a good-deed-doer and role model to all. He plays fine defense and hits many HRs. It's just my lingering memory -- Curtis, trudging to the dugout, bat...
There wasn't enough time for the Yankees to tour the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame or do much else on their short layover before going home.
So during a quick stop in Cleveland, they went to Progressive Field and split a doubleheader that wasn't on the schedule when the season started.
Vidal Nuno pitched five innings of three-hit ball to win his first major league start and...
Robinson Cano finally hit a home run at Kauffman Stadium, Vernon Wells went deep for the second straight game and the New York Yankees beat the Kansas City Royals 4-2 on Sunday to wrap up a three-game sweep.
Hiroki Kuroda (5-2) allowed only a sacrifice fly by the Royals' Alex Gordon and an RBI groundout by Alcides Esocbar over 7 2-3 innings. The right-hander at one point went...
Once Felix Hernandez tweaked his back, the whole game took an odd twist.
Robinson Cano hit a two-run double, Lyle Overbay delivered a tiebreaking sacrifice fly and the New York Yankees rallied in the seventh inning after King Felix was forced to make an early exit, beating Seattle 4-3 Tuesday night.
''It was hard luck,'' Hernandez said.
The Mariners' ace was...

New York Yankees 0 — Cleveland Indians 1
David Phelps made one bad pitch in today’s 1-0 loss to the Cleveland Indians. The first game of a doubleheader today.
David Phelps got the nod for the first game today to makeup rained out games earlier this season. On a 2-2 pitch...
A few days ago, I mentioned to former Nick Swisher that I had picked his former Yankees teammates to finish last in the American League East.
He smiled and shook his head.
"Bro," he said, "you can't bet against those guys. You just can't."
Lesson learned. When I walked into the Yankees clubhouse Tuesday afternoon, they were not last in the AL East....
With Pukilis on the 60 -180 day DL, I have been able to watch Yankee games again.Today, game one in Cleveland, I saw what might be the worst line-up ever slated by the Yankees. This is the history making component of the story. It was clear from the outset, that no one was going to get more than an occasional bunt single. And we didn't.Cano is tired. He swung at the first...
With all due respect to the Dillon Gee-John Gast match-up in St. Louis tonight, there’s one marquee pitching match-up on the schedule for tonight’s games: Felix Hernandez vs CC Sabathia in New York. Neither pitcher throws as hard as they used to, but they’ve both managed to adapt to life without their fastest fastball, and both remain among the best starting pitchers on earth...
