Score and situation: The Arizona Diamondbacks staved off elimination in the first home game of their NLDS with an 8-1 win against the Milwaukee Brewers Tuesday night. The D-Backs lost the first two games of the best-of-five series at Miller Park, and trail 2-1 going into Wednesday's Game 4.
Leading lads: Paul Goldschmidt drove in five runs for Arizona, four of them coming on a grand slam off Shaun Marcum in the fifth inning. That was more than enough support for Josh Collmenter, who held a previously potent Brewers lineup to only two hits over seven innings.
Head hangers: Marcum was rocked for seven runs and seven hits in 4 2/3 innings. Going back to the regular season, he's allowed five or more runs in four of his past five starts. The middle of the Brewers' batting order — Ryan Braun, Prince Fielder and Rickie Weeks — provided no help, hitting a combined 1-for-10.
