Fightin' Marlins:
The Florida Marlins began their West Coast roadtrip in San Francisco Tuesday night against the Giants as they are still on hot pursuit for the division lead in the National League East.
Florida sent out Ricky Nolasco to the mound and he put on a show for the Giants going 8 1/3 innings letting up one run on seven hits and striking out five batters in a 5-1 victory to earn his fourth of the season. With the win Nolasco is 4-0 on the year, better than ace Josh Johnson who is on the DL as we speak.
Nolasco got some help the offense in the third inning. With the bases loaded and two outs, first baseman Gaby Sanchez delivered a big double that brought home Chris Coghlan, Hanley Ramirez, and Logan Morrison. Sanchez had a big day going 3-for-4 with 3 RBI.
Sanchez wasn’t the only one having Nolasco’s back. In the following inning, right fielder Mike Stanton would launch a home run off Giants’ starter Matt Cain to deep center field just out of the reach of Andres Torres. It...
