Fightin' Marlins:
Another great game was pitched by the emerging Florida Marlins’ ace pitcher Ricky Nolasco as he went the distance in the 6-1 victory over the Houston Astros.
Nolasco pitched his sixth career complete game and his second in the past three starts. Nolasco struck out eight batters along the way allowing one run on seven hits.
The Marlins offense had a big day.
Outfielder Logan Morrison went 3-for-4 to snap a bit of a lull. He had a double and a triple to go along with a three RBI day. Catcher John Buck hit his 10th home run of the season off Astros’ starter Brett Myers. It is Buck’s 100th career home run.
Hanley Ramirez contributed with two RBIs as well.
Florida finishes the series with Houston Sunday when Chris Volstad (4-8) takes on Wandy Rodriguez (6-5). Florida hopes to continue its winning ways heading into the All-Star break.
