The Los Angeles Angels made the big splash this past offseason by signing Josh Hamilton away from the Texas Rangers. Very few questioned the validity of the baseball side of the deal, figuring that a healthy Hamilton is still one of the best hitters in baseball. Hamilton has often struggled with staying healthy, especially last season which saw him begin on a tear, and then had different ailments that slowed him considerably. But a healthy Hamilton could be lethal in a lineup with young stud Mike Trout, and Albert Pujols. The questions and concerns media and fans had about the signing had more to do with Hamilton being an alcoholic and being in an environment like LA. Is it wise to have someone with a past like Hamilton’s and put him in the fast lane of Southern California? The answer to that question is a simple one: It doesn’t matter. A question that was raised this week was whether or not beer would be allowed in the clubhouse for the Angels this season with the addition of Hamilton.
