Everyone remembers those commercials “Calgon…take me away“  The Oakland Athletics, two-time defending American League West Champions feel that way right now.  After a pleasant spring in Phoenix, AZ, they returned home to play the San Francisco Giants for a final exhibition in front of an expected crowd of 30K, yet were plagued by sewage problems. Not the first time either.  Jimmy Durkin of the San Jose Mercury News had the scoop: A’s third base coach Mike Gallego captured video of water backing up in the showers and toilets in the coaches’ area of the A’s clubhouse. The game, scheduled for a 1:05 p.m. first pitch, is delayed as rain continues to pour and create puddles on the tarp covering the infield and along the warning tracks. You’ll have to click on the story for the video.  This is not the first problem with the aging stadium according to ESPN.com In September, A’s players reported foul smells from the bathroom end of their dugout. That came after a clogged pipe caused a sewage backup and flooding on the bottom floor of the ballpark in June, sending the Seattle Mariners and A’s scrambling around in towels and heading for higher ground in the Oakland Raiders’ locker room. Sewage problems in clubhouse!! Yep. We are BACK BABAY! — Josh Reddick (@joshreddick16) March 29, 2014 The Oakland A’s are in a “fish or cut bait” situation with regard to location.  They need a new stadium or to move.  Who knows what will happen when commissioner Bud Selig retires.  He’s bee reticent to move on relocating, presumably because he feels it’s not a snap decision.  But in the long run, Oakland needs to get their act together. - David Whitlock Related Article: San Francisco Giants willing to temporarily share home park with Oakland Athletics Be sure to like our Facebook Page Check out Sports-Kings YouTube Channel Or follow us on Twitter - David Whitlock Follow @lhd_on_sports - Blog Follow @RBTS_baseball - Sports-Kings Follow @realsportskings The post Oakland Athletics clubhouse plagued by more sewage problems appeared first on Reading Between The Seams.
