Like Southern California waves, the Angels roll on. They have the majors' second-best record, are closing in on their fifth American League West title in six years and are on virtually the same pace as 2008 when they were the majors' only 100-game winners.
"People don't have any idea how hard it is to win the division," Owner Arte Moreno insists, but the Angels usually make it routine. They already had clinched the division by this time last year.
This season, however, Moreno's point is well-taken. Numerous obstacles remain in the team's path to the postseason. Here are three of them.
Challenging schedule
The Angels began a crucial 10-game stretch by losing to the Yankees 5-3 Monday night. Now it's on to Fenway Park for three followed by a weekend in Texas against the unshakeable Rangers. Then it's home for three against the Yankees.
