Despite the fact that the Giants offense accounted for 13 hits Tuesday night, the Phillies squandered many opportunities of their own on their way to a 4-2 loss to the San Francisco Giants.
Madison Bumgarner improved his record to 2-1 on the season by tossing 6 innings of 7 hit, 2 ER, 2 K baseball.
Joe Blanton on the other hand, dropped to 1-2 on the year after surrendering 11 hits and 4 runs (with 2K) in 5 innings of work.
Carlos Ruiz and Hunter Pence (a solo HR) drove in the only 2 runs for the Phils, as the rest of the 8 total hits for the offense were scattered up and down the lineup.
With the lack of power in this lineup, stringing together innings of small ball is something we haven't seen enough of from this team.
The Phillies will be back in action tonight night to wrap up their first series with the Giants this year. They'll be looking to leave San Fran with another win before they head to San Diego to take on the Padres on Thursday night.
First pitch is set for 10:15pm tonight.
