Daily Farm Round-Up: 8-28-12

Jedd Gyorko was the only Padres hitter without a base knock as the Padres beat the Bees 9-6. Robbie Erlin was outstanding over 5 innings in a start against Midland, but his bullpen was unable to support him as the Missions lose a close one 6-5. Your browser does not support iframes. In the bottom of the eighth inning of Sunday's 5-4 Padres win over the Diamondbacks, Justin Upton hit a grounder deep into the hole between shortstop and third base. Everth Cabrera of the Padres made the stop on the outfield grass, and threw a laser over to first base to get Upton by a step. Cabrera made the throw from a few feet into...

Daily Farm Round-Up: 8-27-12

Excluding Tucson’s offensive output where Jedd Gyorko hit his 6th home run over his last 9 games for Tucson, it was a very rough night for every offense on the farm. Out of the rest of the teams, San Antonio was shutout, Eugene was 2-hit, and Fort Wayne was 4-hit. Lake Elsinore managed to put up 4 runs, but they couldn’t keep the JetHawks off the board as they lost 12-4.Hitting...

Odds are none of you watched it and that’s a damn shame because you missed the catch of the night. Logan Forsythe, the Padres infielder hit what looked like a routine foul ball…until a Padres ball girl named Catalina stepped in. Hopping up instinctively from her chair, Catalina stuck her glove out and pulled a frozen rope out...

Daily Friar 8.29.12

As the old cliche goes, all good things must come to an end. Thus the Padres ran into a road block in their win streak last night. Even though Andrew Werner pitched awesome again last night, he was stuck with the tough luck loss. The tough luck was the fact that he had to go up against Kris Medlen who has been nothing short of outstanding lately. I'm hoping that Werner doesn...

Free Chase Headley!

In baseball, and I guess life itself,  it is always fun to play the “What if..” game. Always! What if Miguel Cabrera played for a contender, but in a hitter’s park? What if Bud Norris could pitch nearly as well on the road as he does at home? What if Tim McCarver enlightened people with his thoughts and insights? See? It’s a fun game, right? That’s rhetorical folks...
