It was Julie Alexandria’s first day on the job as sideline reporter, covering Washington Nationals games for MASN. Alexandria was interviewing Nationals pitcher following the game, who was the star of the game due to his phenomenal effort on the mound. The left-hander produced eight innings of dominant pitching, striking out seven and only giving up one run in Washington’s 8-1 shellacking of the Cincinnati Reds.
As Alexandria conducted her interview of Gonzalez — her first post-game interview ever for MASN, mind you — a Gatorade bath was served up on Gonzalez and Alexandria, and with neither of the victims possessing the catlike reflexes of elusiveness possessed by Carlos Gomez, both were soaked in the process.
Very impressive work by Miss Alexandria. She was a good sport about it, maintained her composure and once everyone got back in the proper position, continued her interview with professionalism and aplomb. This gal is going places.
Even better, it apparently wasn’t too chilly at Nationals Park on Thursday night, as Gonzalez made no mention about how it felt like he was “making love to his hand,” something he said during a post-game interview earlier this season about pitching in frigid temperatures.
