I'm not one of those "break-up the core" fans, I believe with the caliber of our five top players ( Wright, Reyes, Beltran, Santana, Rodriguez) when healthy depending upon the players you surround them with, you are an automatic contender. In fact, my contention is that Omar's biggest failure is his inability to provide his core with a solid surrounding cast. The team is filled with either elite players or huge risk/reward type guys, Omar has never provided those second tier type of solid regular players who would never be considered All-stars.So call me an optimist if you must, but I don't think we're that far off from returning to contention, I'm going to do a series of posts on guys who were the supporting cast this season, who I believe are on the bubble.
