Former Cy Young Award Winner, Johan Santana will make his first start on Thursday afternoon since undergoing surgery to repair a torn anterior capsule in his left shoulder on Sept. 14, 2010. The Mets ‘ace will make his sixth career Opening Day start this afternoon; and his fourth with the Mets. Over his six opening day starts, Johan is 4-1 with a 3.56ERA allowing 12 earned runs over 30 1/3 innings.
On the mound for the Braves, is 25-year-old Tommy Hanson. In 22 starts for the Braves last season, Hanson was 11-7 with a 3.60 ERA. According to Mets.com, “Hanson owned a 2.44 ERA before his right shoulder discomfort became more painful after the All-Star break. This is his first Opening Day assignment and his first start since lasting just 3 1/3 innings against the Mets on Aug. 6.”

It looks like, despite all the ups and downs with ownership and losing Jose, this teams fanbase will continue to support their club. Makes me proud to be a Mets fan, there is no quit in us.
