Orel Hershiser shared an amusing story on Wednesday about the time he was punched by a teammate during a brawl.

ESPN’s “Baseball Tonight” came back from a commercial break playing a video clip of the 1998 fight between the Giants and Phillies. The incident was sparked by Barry Bonds charging the mound after being hit by a pitch from Ricky Bottalico. ESPN played the clip because it involved the two analysts who were on set at the time — Hershiser and Doug Glanville.

Hershiser was a pitcher for the Giants at the time, and during the brawl he held back Glanville, who was an outfielder for the Phillies. After mocking himself for holding back the skinny guy, Hershiser shared an awesome detail from the fight.

“You know the funny thing about that? Danny Darwin smoked me during it — he’s on my team!” Hershiser exclaimed.

When asked why a teammate would hit him, Hershiser explained.

“Because he said I hit him back when I was pitching against him and he wanted to get me back. Danny Darwin as my teammate hit me right here,” Hershiser said pointing to his jaw.

Teammate on teammate violence? I thought that only happened in “Major League II.” Well that, and whenever Barry Bonds was being a jerk.
