The Baltimore Orioles added newly acquired catcher Chris Snyder to the roster on Tuesday. Snyder was acquired from the Angels for pitcher Rob Delaney.
Snyder, 32, will serve as the backup to Matt Wieters while Taylor Teagarden is on the disabled list.
In order to place Snyder on the roster the Orioles sent down Luis Exposito. Exposito was called up when Teagarden initially suffered a thumb injury.
Snyder’s contributions to the Orioles are expected to be minimal. Teagarden appeared in just 22 games last season. In parts of nine seasons Snyder has a .225/.329/.385 line.

Twenty-nine strikeouts, one walk.
Those are right-hander Kevin Gausman’s numbers in 28 2/3 innings for the Orioles at Double A. And while Triple A right-hander Freddy Garcia likely will start Friday or Saturday in Anaheim, Gausman, 22, might not be in the minors much longer.
The Orioles, after demoting right-hander Jake Arrieta, are trying to establish a fifth starter. Garcia...
The Orioles have the top pitching prospect, followed by a couple of guys of note; then the system really falls off.

My general theory in life, and especially in fantasy baseball, is that conventional wisdom is usually completely wrong. Hell, it wasn’t too long ago that baseball wisdom believed that batting average is what counts, walks were useless, and you should bunt with your No. 2 hitter when the leadoff guy hits a double (well Dusty Baker still believes that). The point is, just because...
Nate McLouth led off the game with his second homer of the season, Baltimore battered rookie Brandon Maurer for four runs in the first inning and the Orioles beat the Mariners 7-2 on Tuesday night.
McLouth blew a bubble with his gum as he rounded the bases. Over his last 10 games, the Orioles' leadoff man is hitting .485 and has scored 14 runs.
Matt Wieters added a two-run...
When Taylor Teagarden went down with a dislocated thumb yesterday, the Orioles suddenly found themselves in a dangerous position. They had very little catching depth, and that left them vulnerable. So, they didn't waste any time in correcting the issue. Baltimore traded for Chris Snyder yesterday to help fill the hole left behind by Teagarden.

Photo by Richard Wilkins Jr. Jim Thome doesn't want to quit baseball. Yes, he's a big 42 year old man who has a bad back, so there's no reason to think there are teams who are lining up to get him. Here's the flip side- He's hit 612 home runs,...
The Baltimore Orioles, in search of a backup replacement after having had to put Taylor Teagarden on the disabled list has recalled catcher Luis Exposito from Triple-A Norfolk. Much like Teagarden, Exposito will play sparingly behind star Matt Wieters.
