With the temperature dropping below fiftty degrees at Oriole Park the Baltimore Orioles defeated the New York Yankees to even the American League Divisional Series.
Rookie left-hander Wei-Yin Chen started for the Orioles. Chen who had spent four seasons pitching in Japan was making the biggest start of his career. Chen would pitch into the seventh.
Jim Johnson would come into the game in the ninth and redeem himself following Sunday nights loss.
The Yankees struck in the first inning. Robinson Cano doubled home Ichiro Suzuki. Andy Pettitte would keep the Yankees ahead until the Orioles struck in the bottom of the third.
It was the bottom of the third that saw Robert Andrino and Nate McLouth score on a Chris Davis single. The Orioles would knock in another run in the bottom of the sixth when Matt Wieters doubled off Pettitte to start the inning and Mark Reynolds followed that up with a run scoring single.
Pettitte bucked down from there. He got Jim Thome to strike out and then induced a double play off the bat of Manny Machado.
Eduardo Nunez started the Yankees half of the seventh with a double. The next batter, Derek Jeter would drop a single over the infield to drive him in cutting the lead to 3-2.

Still, with his game-ending strikeout that followed a seventh inning whiff with the...

The New York Yankees have designated Cory Wade for assignment, Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News reports. The move creates room for Delin Betances who was reinstated from the 60-day disabled list to play in the Arizona Fall League (AFL).
Wade has had an up and down career as a reliever as he posted a 2.27 ERA in 2008 with the Dodgers and 2.04 ERA last season with the Yankees...
