Adam Jones hit a two-run homer off Mariano Rivera in the ninth inning and the Baltimore Orioles beat the Yankees 2-1 on Sunday, ending New York's longest winning streak of the season at six games. A healthy Hiroki Kuroda pitched seven innings of three-hit ball for the Yankees, but they were unable to finish off a three-game sweep after Baltimore took all three games from them at Camden Yards last weekend. David Robertson worked a 1-2-3 eighth and Rivera (1-2) entered looking to reach 30 saves for the 15th time, which would break a tie with Trevor Hoffman for the major league record.

Adam Jones takes Rivera deep in the 9th

It’s not often that Mariano Rivera has failed the New York Yankees over his 19-year career, but today was one of those days  With the Yankees eyeing a key sweep of their AL East rival Baltimore Orioles, you wouldn’t be able to blame even Orioles fans for not having much hope of salvaging the win.  Don’t tell that to Adam Jones, who delivered a surprising 2-run blast off of...

Adam Jones takes out hitless night on batting helmet

Adam Jones had a rough night against the New York Yankees Friday but it looks like his batting helmet had it tougher. After striking out against Ivan Nova during last night's 3-2 loss at Yankee Stadium, the Baltimore Orioles slugger did something with his bat he couldn't do all night — hit something. Jones took out his 0-for-4 frustration out on his helmet as he walked...

Jon Heyman provides our favorite hashtag typo yet

MLB insider Jon Heyman of CBS Sports and MLB Network was tweeting his thoughts on the Baltimore Orioles' Adam Jones hitting a two-run homer off Yankees closer Mariano Rivera, when he had a very, very unfortunate typo on a hashtag: Best. Hashtag. Typo. Ever. Heyman tweeted this shortly after his hilarious hashtag error: What Heyman was of course trying to...

Despite Blown Save, Yankees Have Successful Weekend

The Yankees Sunday afternoon loss to the Baltimore Orioles felt like a big deal. With Mariano Rivera on the mound after 7.0 strong shutout innings from a thankfully healthy Hiroki Kuroda, it felt like a sweep was inevitable. The standings were already recalculated in Yankees fans heads with the Yankees pulling 1.5 games ahead of the Orioles and remaining in a tie with the Tampa...

Orioles Salvage Series Against Yankees; Thoughts About The Team Right Now...

The Orioles did not have a good weekend up in New York City and were on their way to a demoralizing three-game sweep. For the most part, Baltimore had good pitching in the series; however, the offense could not come through as needed. Across Birdland, fans were fretting on sports talk radio and online about the state of the team. Little had gone right for the Orioles until this...

Yankees’ Cano and Rivera Named to the All-Star Team

While the Yankees might have quite a few all-stars on the DL this season — Jeter, A-Rod, Granderson, Teixeira and Youkilis — they’ll still be represented like every other team. Robinson Cano and Mariano Rivera will be the Yankee representatives at Citi Field this year. Cano, also the American League Captain for the Home Run Derby, will be making his 5th appearance in the Mid...

Your Oriole All-Stars....

I didn't catch the All-Star selection show this evening; however, I was pleasantly surprised to see four members of the Baltimore Orioles make the 2013 All-Star team. Chris Davis - who garnered the most votes of anyone despite not being a household name until this season - along with Adam Jones, J.J. Hardy and Manny Machado are on the team. Davis, Jones and Hardy...
