Baltimore Orioles manager Buck Showalter has 10 relief pitchers to choose from in their win-or-go-home AL wild card game at Texas. The Orioles' 25-man roster for Friday night's game includes seven right-handers and three left-handers behind lefty starter Joe Saunders, who has never won at Rangers Ballpark. The wild card winner advances to play in the AL division series against the New York Yankees, and would host the first two games. The 25-man roster can be redone before then. For the Rangers game, Baltimore had two catchers, six infielders, five outfielders and designated hitter Jim Thome.

Ex-Rangers facing Texas as member of O's

Joe Saunders’s Plus Skill On Display Against Rangers

The presentation of Joe Saunders as a joke has escalated ever since the Orioles had the gall to name him starter for Friday’s American League Wild Card game. Nobody is accusing Joe Saunders of greatness, but he has made a living on competency. He has a 98 career ERA- — just slightly better than average. Aggressively competent, even.Still, it’s understandable why Saunders is...

Orioles Magic 2012 – Baltimore’s playoff theme song

The Oakland A’s recently debuted their 2012 playoffs theme song with a 70′s sounding ditty.  Now it’s the Orioles’ turn.  They went with a Mr. Belvedere-ish, Abba-sounding jam.  It actually sounds more suited for their days with Brooks and Frank Robinson. But hey, who can argue with the title – Orioles Magic?  They certainly used some magic to maintain their standing...
