MLB Injury News:
Wilson Betemit has been sidelined since August with a bone bruise and torn cartilage in his right wrist. It was not clear if he would be able to join the Baltimore Orioles should they make the playoffs this season. Well, Baltimore made the postseason and won their Wild Card match-up with the Texas Rangers. Now it seems Betemit may be added to the Division Series roster.
According to Roch Kubatko of MASN, manager Buck Showalter hinted at Betemit rejoining the team. He took full batting practice yesterday and looks ready to go. The team must submit their roster this morning and it will likely be announce in the next couple hours.
Betemit was having a solid year prior to the injury. He hit .261/.322/.422 with 12 home runs in 102 games. He has never been known as a big power threat, but he can hit the occasional home run and get on base. In his career, Betemit is a .268/.334/.444 hitter. He has played for seven different teams, but this is his first year with the Orioles.
The most important thing Betemit brings to the Orioles and Buck Showalter is another option. As the team gets healthier, they have more directions to go. If Betemit is added to the roster, it's not certain how Showalter will use him. He could be another bat coming off the bench, or the Orioles could give him a full test and put him in the field.
Baltimore takes on the New York Yankees today in Baltimore at 6:00 PM EST. The two teams battled for just about the last month of the season for the Division crown without ever being more than a game apart. It took until the final day of the regular season for the Yankees to clinch the American League East.

While the Baltimore Orioles weren’t able to take Game One of
their American League Division Series matchup against the New York Yankees,
they did receive a strong effort from starting pitcher Jason Hammel, who’s

People in Baltimore were flying pretty high, with the O's hosting their first play-off game since 1997.
Orioles. Yankees. The two teams fought until the bitter end for the AL East title, and now square off in the AL Division Series. New York sent ace CC Sabathia to the mound, while the O's countered with Jason Hammel, who was their best pitcher this year but had...
ARLINGTON, Texas If Rangers fans could take any joy from Friday's wild card loss to the Orioles, it's that so many of the players celebrating on the field used to play for them.
A whopping seven members of the 2012 Orioles wore Rangers uniforms in 2011.
For players like Chris Davis, the moment was especially sweet since it occurred so close to his hometown of Longview...
In a moment eerily similar to when Nick Markakis fractured his thumb, Mark Reynolds was hit in the hand by a Yu Darvish pitch in the top of the second inning. He went to the ground and a team trainer checked him out, but Reynolds was able to remain in the game. He actually went on to steal second base even though he had only one successful steal all season long before that....

The Baltimore Orioles are moving on after beating the Texas Rangers in the one-game wild card playoff held tonight in Arlington.
Orioles pitcher Joe Saunders gave the Orioles 5 2/3 innings before he handed the game over to the bullpen. Darren O’Day came in and pitched 2 innings giving up only one hit before he was replaced by Brian Matusz. Jim Johnson came in to close out the...
So here they are. The Orioles finally made the play-offs, and they had to travel to Texas to face a team that's beat up on them some this year. They used their best starters trying to win the AL East, leaving them with Joe Saunders as the only really option to take the mound. The same Joe Saunders who was 0-6 with a 9.38 ERA in his career at the Rangers...
Orioles rookie third baseman Manny Machado was a 4-year-old when Baltimore and the New York Yankees last met in the postseason.
In case the kid needs a quick history lesson, left-hander David Wells won a game for Baltimore, Cecil Fielder and Darryl Strawberry homered for the Yankees, and a youngster named Jeffrey Maier stuck his glove in the middle of the whole thing.
The Baltimore Orioles could never have imagined their first home playoff game in 15 years ending with a dismal performance by their most reliable pitcher.
Jim Johnson gave up five runs in the ninth inning, and the Orioles lost to the New York Yankees 7-2 Sunday night in the opener of their AL division series.
Russell Martin hit a tiebreaking homer leading off the ninth, and CC...
The story of the Baltimore Orioles making the playoffs this year, something they haven’t done in fifteen years has been a good one.
Tonight the Orioles played the first game of the American League Division Series against the New York Yankees. The game was tied 2-2 until the top of the 9th inning when Russell Martin hit a home run off of Orioles closer Jim Johnson.
It seems that...
The author, because he’s an idiot, mistakenly wrote this preview for the Yankees-Orioles series despite having definitely been assigned the Nationals-Cardinals NLDS, instead, by his fearless editor Dave Cameron.
