The Baltimore Orioles sent starting pitcher Miguel Gonzalez to the bullpen after he struggled to begin the 2014 season. Now manager Buck Showalter is thinking of returning Gonzalez to the rotation to face Pittsburgh either Tuesday or Wednesday according to the Baltimore Sun.
Gonzalez, 29, has appeared in eight games, seven starts, this season but owns a worrisome 4.76 ERA and a 1.46 WHIP.
Still given Gonzalez’s track record the Orioles may be wise to give him another shot. A season ago Gonzalez posted a 3.78 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP in 30 games of which 28 were starts.
Gonzlaez went seven innings allowing two runs against Houston in his final start before being sent to the bullpen. He has appeared in one game as a reliever since allowing two runs, one earned, in two innings of work against Detroit.
