Orioles prized pitching prospect Dylan Bundy wants another opinion on his ailing right arm, this time from Dr. James Andrews. Bundy has been sidelined since developing elbow soreness late in spring training. The right-hander experienced discomfort while throwing from 90 feet on Monday, which spurred him into requesting a second opinion. Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Tuesday the team has not received the results of Dr. Andrews' examination in Florida. Showalter says the problem with Bundy's arm is a ''flexor mass,'' which is more the forearm than the elbow. Showalter says an MRI on the elbow ''looked good.'' Bundy was selected fourth overall in the 2011 amateur draft. He made his professional debut last year and pitched two games during September with the Orioles.

Orioles’ Dylan Bundy to have elbow examined

The Baltimore Orioles shut down top prospect Dylan Bundy to start the season as the right-handed starting pitcher battled elbow issues. Bundy resumed throwing recently, but it brought about a setback that is causing Baltimore to have him examined by the infamous Dr. James Andrews, according to Eduardo A. Encina of The Baltimore Sun. Dylan Bundy getting second opinion on forearm...

Orioles rumors: Baltimore shopping Zach Britton?

The Baltimore Orioles haven’t received the production they were hoping for out of their starting pitchers so far this season. As a result, they are reportedly looking for rotation help, and “there’s an increasing feeling around baseball people” that the team could dangle left-handed starting pitcher Zach Britton in a trade, according to Nick Cafardo of The Boston Globe...

Talking Orioles With The Baltimore Sun

I did a Q&A with Matt Vensel at the Baltimore Sun for his Blogger on Blogger feature; mostly on Jake Arrieta and Chris Davis, with some DH struggles and defense sprinkled in. Check it out here.

First Pitch: Thinking Back to Dylan Bundy

I happened to be thinking about Baltimore Orioles pitching prospect Dylan Bundy this afternoon at McKechnie Field. I was watching Nick Kingham long tossing from about 300 feet, throwing from the area between the mound and home plate all the way to the wall next to the 335 sign. I think about Bundy every time I see a Pirates pitching prospect long tossing from beyond 120 feet, and...

The Curious Case of Jake Arrieta

Ah, Jake Arrieta. If you bring up his name to a lot of Orioles fans, it often does not conjure up good thoughts at all. Sunday’s game was a case exhibit for that opinion. I saw the self-destruction of Arrieta live and in person at the Yard; however, before the game against the Dodgers, I and several season ticket holders in my respective section pondered how many...

Baltimore Orioles Recall Pitcher Alex Burnett

MLB News: The Baltimore Orioles recalled pitcher Alex Burnett Monday from Triple-A Norfolk to fill in as a middle reliever. Fantasy Ramifications: While not a stud, he does have a little bit of a resume to go on. He posted a sub-4.00 earned run average in just over 70 innings last  year for the Minnesota Twins. The Orioles ballpark is much more hitter friendly though so don’t...

About Last Night and Arrieta Demoted

Last night, the Orioles pulled off a walk-off victory as Nick Markakis singled in the winning run to help them win, 2-1. Chris Tillman – who started for Baltimore – pitched very, very well. He went 6 2/3 innings, gave up a run on four hits, and was rolling until the 6th inning. Despite solid outing on the mound, Tillman – as well as every Oriole starting pitcher – needs...

About Last Night and Dylan Bundy

The Baltimore Orioles pulled off another win against the Toronto Blue Jays last night, 4-3, as pitcher Mike Gonzalez won his second game of the season and Jim Johnson recorded his eighth save on the young season. The Birds are now 12-8 on the season and will look for the series sweep as Josh Stinson – who was called up from Norfolk this week – will start the game on the mound...

Baltimore Orioles Recall Then Option Josh Stinson, Option Alex Burnett

MLB News: To start off Wednesday, the Baltimore Orioles recalled right hander Josh Stinson to make a spot start against the Toronto Blue Jays while optioning righty Alex Burnett to Triple-A Norfolk to make room for Stinson. After getting bombed though, allowing four home runs in 5 2/3 innings, Stinson was also optioned back to Triple-A Norfolk. Fantasy Ramifications: Neither Stinson...

Baltimore Orioles Option Pitcher Jake Arrieta

MLB News: The Baltimore Orioles have optioned pitcher Jake Arrieta to Triple-A Norfolk after having struggled this season. And when we say struggled, he posted a 6.63 earned run average and 16 walks in 19 innings. Fantasy Ramifications: He has a solid arm as he also struck out 20 hitters, but until that control is a non-issue, he will always be considered a scrap heap when he is...

Orioles 2, Blue Jays 1

Nick Markakis singled home the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, giving the Baltimore Orioles a 2-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday night. Toronto reliever Aaron Loup (1-2) began the ninth by hitting Chris Davis with a pitch. After a sacrifice bunt, Steve Pearce popped out and Nolan Reimold received an intentional walk before Alexi Casilla...

Orioles 4, Blue Jays 3

Manny Machado had two hits and two RBIs, and the Baltimore Orioles used a four-run second inning to beat R.A. Dickey and the Toronto Blue Jays 4-3 Tuesday night. Miguel Gonzalez (2-1) allowed three runs in six innings for the Orioles, who have won nine of 13. By taking the first two games of the three-game set, Baltimore improved to 5-2 in seven series this season - including 4...

Video: Dad protects daughter from being hit by foul ball

Your browser does not support iframes.Quick reflexes and quick thinking helped this family avoid major disaster during Monday's game between the Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays at Camden Yards. In the bottom of the first, Baltimore's Matt Wieters sent a screaming line drive off to the first base side and into the first row of the stands. That is when fatherly instincts...

Orioles-Athletics Preview

The Baltimore Orioles are coming off a solid homestand, but their upcoming road trip begins in a place they haven't had much success in recent seasons. Baltimore kicks off an 11-game trip Thursday night with a four-game set against the Oakland Athletics. The Orioles (12-9) went 6-3 on their homestand after falling 6-5 in 11 innings to Toronto on Wednesday, ending their 17-game...
