So far, it’s been very good for the Orioles in Canada. On Saturday, they earned their second straight comeback win in as many days over the Toronto Blue Jays, 6-4.

They are now 5-3 on the year, and in first place in the American League East. On Sunday, the Orioles will go for the sweep, as they have already taken the series.

Nolan Reimold came through in the clutch as he hit a two-run homer off Francisco Cordero – closer for the Jays – in the ninth inning to break a tie and give the Orioles a 6-4 lead.

What has made this weekend so great for us fans is that we’re seeing the Orioles win games that they would have lost in the past. While things are not perfect with the team, they are

Jim Johnson got the save – his third on the season - for the Orioles, by pitching a scoreless bottom of the ninth. Luis Ayala got the win for Baltimore by pitching the eighth inning and giving the Orioles their golden chance in the ninth inning.

Cordero took the loss for Toronto.

Henderson Alvarez – who started for the Jays – went seven innings and gave up three runs.

Jason Hammel started the game for Baltimore on the mound. His outing started off rocky as he gave up runs during first and second innings; however, he settled down. Hammel’s work on Saturday didn’t match his gem last Sunday, but he went five innings and allowed two runs.

The Jays helped out the Orioles in the second inning, as Brett Lawrie inexplicably tried to steal home with Jose Bautista – with the bases loaded; however, he was tagged out to end the threat at home by Matt Wieters. That frame could have made the game if Bautista got a base hit – or homered.Link

Both Alvarez and Hammel would earn no-decisions.

Blue Jay Fan Throws Potato at Orioles’ Endy Chavez

You read it right. In the bottom of the ninth inning on Saturday with the Jays down two runs and Endy Chavez seeing his first action of the game as a defensive replacement, a Toronto fan tossed a potato at the left fielder, causing a brief stoppage in play. Must be a Canadian thing. Chavez jogged the vegetable into third base umpire Jim Wolf who couldn’t help but to laugh. No word...

Matusz and Gregg Flatline in Toronto, O's Can't Sweep Jays

It was an ugly day for the Orioles, as they saw their brief two-game win streak snapped and a chance of a series sweep of the Toronto Blue Jays disappear. The Orioles wound up losing to the Jays this afternoon, 9-2, and the role of Brian Matusz in the starting rotation may in be in question. I had high hopes for him coming into the 2012 season; however, while Matsuz has shown...

Adam Jones, Jason Heyward to wear special cleats on Jackie Robinson Day

Jackie Robinson Day will be celebrated throughout the majors on Sunday, and two young African-American outfielders have a special tribute planned. Adam Jones of the Orioles and Jason Heyward of the Braves plan to wear the cleats pictured above to honor the man who broke MLB’s color barrier. Heyward tweeted that the cleats are the Nike Griffey Jr. Swingman model spikes. He also...

Orioles first base coach Wayne Kirby plays with bubble gum containers during rain delay (Video)

Baltimore Orioles first base coach Wayne Kirby was caught on camera playing with bubble gum containers in the dugout during a rain delay before Wednesday night's game at Camden Yards against the New York Yankees. Your browser does not support iframes. Kirby took two containers of Dubble Bubble gum, which still had gum in them, and held them up to his ears like an elephant...

The White Sox on the Docket; Thoughts Around Baseball...

After winning two out of three games up in Toronto, the Baltimore Orioles return stateside and face the White Sox in the Windy City. Over the past nine games to start the season, the Orioles have looked much improved from last year. Granted, it has only been two weeks, but the pitching – for the most part – has kept the team in games, and the batters have come through in key...

Home Run Derby up North, O's Win; Reynolds

Ah, there’s nothing like a good 'ol slugfest. After being swept by the Yankees this week, the Orioles turned it on last night at the plate and beat the Toronto Blue Jays, 7-5, to start their three game series. There were seven home runs in the game on Friday night, but Baltimore’s offense turned it on late and the bullpen closed it out. The Jays have owned the Orioles over...

Encouraged in April

The Orioles are off to a solid 4-3 start. At the beginning of the year if you told me that the Orioles would have that record, I would take it and be happy. however, getting swept by the Yankees in heartbreaking fashion after sweeping the Twins definitely stung. The Orioles needed that win against Toronto in Toronto last night for a couple reasons. They needed to halt an early...

The Jays Are on the Docket

This weekend, the Orioles start a long, ten-game road trip, and their first stop is in Toronto, Canada, as they face the Blue Jays. It's a three-game set up north, and with the Orioles now 3-3, plus mired in a three-game skid, they hope to get things back in order. The Jays are 4-2 and are atop the American League East along with the Tampa Bay Rays. A small group of experts...

Orioles-White Sox Preview

The Baltimore Orioles are a bit disappointed they didn't sweep their first road series but pleased they still managed to win it. After all, they only won five road series all of last season, although one came in Chicago. The Orioles try to build on an encouraging start to a 10-game trip when they open a four-game set Monday night against a White Sox team hoping to bounce back...

Pecking Order

Note the moment: The Baltimore Orioles lead the AL East. How often can you say that? The Sox remain in the cellar, but only two games separate all the teams. Which means this moment will most likely be short-lived. But never say never, I guess.

Orioles 6, Blue Jays 4

Nolan Reimold hit a tiebreaking, two-run homer in the ninth inning and the Baltimore Orioles beat the Toronto Blue Jays 6-4 on Saturday. Wilson Betemit tied it with a home run in the eighth and Chris Davis also went deep for the Orioles, who won their second straight game at Rogers Centre. Coming into the series, Baltimore was 5-29 in Toronto dating to 2008. Kelly Johnson homered...

Orioles Take Two of Three From Blue Jays

I only got to see the tail end of the first two games, but the Orioles taking the series in Toronto was both unexpected (given they were something like 5-290 there recently) and awesome. Nolan Reimold went 5-10 with two doubles and two homers (both in the top of the 9th - clutch!) in the O's two wins (and then sat for game three as Endy Chavez went 0-4 out of the lead-off spot...
