When Hammel takes the mound tomorrow for the Bowie Baysox, Showalter...

Orioles beat BoSox, eye wild card

Chris Tillman isn't concerned about his steadily increasing win total or about further establishing himself as the ace of the Orioles staff. The right-hander knew the victory was more important to his team. Tillman pitched seven strong innings to earn his 15th victory of the season, and Baltimore beat the Boston Red Sox 3-2 on Thursday night to avoid a three-game sweep. The...

Jim Thome’s place in Baseball’s Hall of Fame discussion

Today is the birthday of longtime MLB 1B and AL DH Jim Thome. He turns 43 and is likely not returning to baseball after last appearing for the Baltimore Orioles in 2012. Thome ranks as one of the quietest run producers in the history of MLB. Some of it has to do with his career being during the height of the steroids era. Two arguments can be made considering Thome’s career. One...

Davis wants Miggy to win Crown?

Chris Davis is Miguel Cabrera's biggest obstacle blocking him from winning the Triple Crown, but he wants the Tigers slugger to win it.

Stephen Drew Starts at Shortstop Against Left-Hander Wei-Yin Chen in Series Opener With Orioles

The Red Sox will return home Tuesday night to face the Baltimore Orioles, and with the O’s going with a left-hander to open the series, it seemed to make sense to start Xander Bogaerts at shortstop to make his home debut. However, it will be Stephen Drew in the lineup to begin the three-game series, which also opens a nine-game homestand. The left-handed-hitting Drew will get the...

Chris Davis: I hope Miguel Cabrera wins the Triple Crown again

At the moment, Baltimore Orioles first baseman Chris Davis is the only person standing between Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera and back-to-back American League Triple Crowns. Cabrera’s .357 batting average is a whopping 25 points higher than the next-best in the AL, which is Mike Trout’s .332. Miggy also has 130 RBI, which is 10 […]

Davis hits 47th homer but Orioles lose to Red Sox

One night after getting banged around Fenway Park, the Baltimore Orioles could only watch as pinch hitter Mike Carp's blooper feel softly onto the grass. Carp's floater dropped into left in the eighth inning, landing just beyond the glove of Baltimore third baseman Manny Machado and scoring Jarrod Saltalamacchia from second base with the tiebreaking run to lift the Boston...

Time for the Oriole Stomp

This post is gonna be quick. And it’s gonna be to the point. Fact is it seems like the Orioles have had our number for so long, I almost can’t remember a time when Buck Showalter wasn’t grinning and rubbing his hands in the opposing team’s dugout, nodding in approval as his team dropkicks ours out of the standings. No more, I say. I want all three of these games. I want...

Two Explosive Offenses Meet When Red Sox Take On Orioles, Fight to Stay Atop AL East (Video)

There’s no place like home — that’s certainly how the Red Sox should feel as they start a nine-game homestand after playing 16 games on the road. They kick it off Monday night with a three-game set against the Orioles, who certainly shouldn’t be underestimated.  O’s Slugger Chris Davis leads the league in home runs, and is a force to be reckoned with on offense. Jim Monaghan Contributing writer Manny Machado's one-out double in the top of the third inning drove in a pair of runs and helped lift the Orioles to a 3-2 win over the Red Sox at Fenway Park.
