Roy Oswalt’s contract talks have hit a snag.
Oswalt is not happy with the St. Louis Cardinals latest offer, which is regarded by Oswalt as “anywhere close to sufficient.” He is hoping to receive a one-year, $10 million deal from either team.
He would like to stay in the National League by pitching for the Cardinals over the Texas Rangers. He has pitched in the National League his entire career.
Both teams have the pitching depth to wait him out. That depth could cause Oswalt to seek an alternative team.
If both teams balk at him, the Boston Red Sox are expected to re-enter the sweepstakes.
