Chicago White Sox
One question the Chicago White Sox don't have is in Chris Sale. That was again on display Sunday, as the All-Star continued to show why he is becoming the face of the starting staff, pitching eight innings and allowing just one run on 10 hits in a 2-1 win over Kansas City. The win improved Sale to 11-2, with an ERA of 2.11. As far as the rest of the starting staff, the Sox continue to have some serious issues on the injury front. Manager Robin Ventura revealed before the rubber match against the Royals that Gavin Floyd was sent back to Chicago for an MRI on his sore right elbow/forearm. No structural damage was found, and the hope is that Floyd will be pushed out of his Monday start in Boston, getting the start on Wednesday. But that depends on how Floyd feels on Tuesday. The bigger question: Does general manager Ken Williams look to add to the starting staff via the trade route? Two weeks ago, Williams was counting on the return of John Danks and Philip Humber to the ro...

Those who were expecting nonstop quotes mixed in with a solid amount of controversy once Bryce Harper got called up to the big leagues have been extremely disappointed. Harper has said and done all the right things since joining the Nationals. That is, if you ask anyone besides Ozzie Guillen. The Marlins manager was furious with Harper on Sunday but would not say what had him so...
The Chicago White Sox just got by the Kansas City Royals by a score of 2-1 in-game three this afternoon. If someone would have told us Kevin Youkilis would have back to back days going 0-4 you probably would have suggested for them to have their heads examined. That is exactly what Youkilis did, he went 0-8 in his last 8 at bats for the White Sox. The entire Chicago line up is suffering...
The tension between Bobby Valentine and Kevin Youkilis hasn't evaporated. Before Sunday's game against the Rays, Valentine was asked about the White Sox third baseman, who will be making his return to Fenway Park on Monday for the first time since he was dealt from Boston on June 24. The Red Sox skipper didn't shy away from the question. From his perspective, Youkilis...
It's no secret that Kevin Youkilis didn't get along well with Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine, a conflict that contributed to the third baseman being traded last month to the Chicago White Sox. But it didn't have to be that way, Valentine said Sunday. "I think the comment I made early, he made a big issue about and I don't think he ever wanted to get over...
Kevin Youkilis returns to Fenway Park on Monday night and there's little doubt that Red Sox fans will be giving the former corner infielder the "Friendly Fenway" treatment. Youkilis was a fan favorite and popular among his teammates and the city of Boston. After all, he climbed through the Red Sox minor league system to become the player he is today. He walked off the...
Because I’m a bitter Mets fan, the first entry in the Mets Baseball Card of the Day will be a Lastings Milledge Rookie Card:
Milledge in my mind will always be the perfect example of the Mets prospect hype machine.
Anyway the card design comes from one of my favorite sets, Topps Turkey Red. The cards have a painted feel to them, with a rough surface, which is why the light is...
Kevin Youkilis has been on fire all season long, he is a big reason the Chicago White Sox have a three game lead in the American League Central. When we see Kevin Youkilis go hit-less in a game it makes you wonder if the White Sox magic is about to fade or is it just a bad day for the red hot Youkilis? The White Sox still have a lot of baseball to play this season and if they are...
This past weekend, the Marlins played host to the first place Nationals in which something happened between Marlins Manager Ozzie Guillen and Nationals phenom Bryce Harper that caused Ozzie to get his panties all twisted up.
Apparently, the Marlins thought Harper was using pine tar on his bat and the next time Harper stepped to the plate, he motioned with the bat to Ozzie to "...
Aaron Cook had a great outing last night to help his Boston Red Sox beat the White Sox 5-1. Cook gave up five hits on 97 pitches with 66 of those being strikes. He didn’t strike out anyone and did not walk a batter either. This was a solid effort by cook and the Red Sox offense helped him out. The Defense also did a great job for Cook too. The Red Sox are still 9-1/2 games back...
Chicago White Sox third baseman Kevin Youkilis refused to
comment Sunday on the latest criticism from Boston Red Sox manager
White Sox starter Jake Peavy figured he threw a good pitch to Alcides Escobar in the third inning, when the Royals shortstop took him deep. It was just the wrong pitch at the time.
The seventh inning was a different matter entirely.
''The pitch to him later in the game, there's no excuse for that,'' Peavy said of Escobar's solo homer, which broke a 3-all...
Tomorrow night marks Kevin Youkilis‘ return to Fenway as a member of the wrong-colored Sox. It’s going to be tough to see (and even tougher if he does well which is likely considering he is raking in Chi-town) but the cathedral will likely be rocking with YOOOOOOUK chants and there may even be a few [...]
For the first time since he was traded to the Chicago White Sox on June 24th, former Boston Red Sox fan favorite Kevin Youkilis made his return to Fenway Park on Monday night. Of course he got a single in his first at-bat after a rousing ovation from the Fenway Faithful.
