Right-hander Juan Carlos Oviedo said the only thing different about him is his name. He said the Miami Marlins can expect the same reliever who notched 92 saves for them over the last three years. "I'm just going to be the same because it's still me. it's my arm that pitches," he said Tuesday. "With my name, JC Oviedo, I'm the same guy, It's the same arm." Oviedo had been in the Dominican Republic since late September after he admitted to using a fake name, Leo Nunez. "I was scared," he said of his eight-month saga. "I thought maybe my career was finished." Unless manager Ozzie Guillen says otherwise, Heath Bell will be the Marlins' closer when Oviedo returns to the team on July 23 after serving an eight-week suspension that started Monday, Marlins baseball operations president Larry Beinfest said. Bell has had a rocky start to the season, but he earned his ninth save in 13 chances Tuesday, closing out Miami's 3-1 win over Washington. With a scoreless inning, he lowered his ERA to 7.58. The Marlins signed Bell to a three-year, $27 million contract in December in part because of uncertainty over Oviedo's future. Bell has struggled this year. "It has been an interesting go," Beinfest said of Bell. "I don't think anybody anticipated when you go out and get a guy who has had the success that Heath has had over the past three years, the only closer in the National League with 40-plus saves, you don't anticipate the struggles that he has had."
