The Padres split a series with the Astros that relied heavily on the long ball for both teams. San Diego won the first game in extra innings after Jesus Guzman hit a go-ahead homer in the eighth only to Houston tie the game in the bottom half of the inning with a homer of their own. After losing second game where Kip Wells surrendered two big-flies in a 5-3 loss, Clayton Richard gave up a solo shot for the only run scored by either team in Houston’s 1-0 win. But the biggest homerun of them all came from the smallest man on the field. Alexi Amarista broke open a tie game with a two-out grand slam in the top of the ninth to give the Padres a dramatic 7-3 win. San Diego will now head to another homerun have, Coors Field, to take on the Rockies for the next three games of this road trip. Below is a game by game recap of the Padres long series at Minute-Maid Park.   Monday, June 25th, 2012 Padres 8, Astros 7 (10 innings) WP Dale Thayer (1-2) 1IP 0H 0R 0ER 0BB 1K 0HR LP Brandon Lyon (0-2) 1IP
