Yasmani Grandal roped an RBI double and scored on a line drive single by Matt Clark and the San Diego Padres scored five runs in the 7th and 8th innings this afternoon to beat the San Francisco Giants, 5-1 at a rain-soaked Scottsdale Stadium. [box score]

Giants starter Madison Bumgarner put up goose eggs through his five innings of work, scattering four hits and striking out two. But Ramon Ortiz and Clay Henlsey couldn’t hold the lead.

Emmanuel Burris went 2-for-2 with a triple, walk and his fifth stolen base of the spring.

The Giants (11-5-3) and Padres (9-8) have split the last two Cactus League games and will play one more time on March 30 at Peoria.

Top Giants hitter: Burriss (2-for-2, 3B, BB, R, SB)
Top Giants pitcher: Bumgarner (5 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 2 K)
Key moment of the game: Grandal’s two-out RBI double off Ortiz in the 7th inning.

San Francisco get its first day off tomorrow. They’ll head over to Salt River Fields at Talking Stick on Tuesday afternoon to play the Arizona Diamondbacks. Barry Zito (2-0, 4.00) will make his fourth start of the spring.

NOTES: Brandon Belt stroked his fourth double of the spring in the third inning … The Giants were 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position today (and stranded nine men all together) … Burriss is tied for second among all major league ball players with five stolen bases. Gregor Blanco leads sport with seven steals … Outfielder Tyler Graham stole his third base of the spring, giving the Giants a major league-best 24 steals. They’ve only been caught 14 times, a success rate of 63.2 percent … The Giants have three players among the top five NL batting leaders: Blanco (.444, first), Burriss (.441, fourth) and Melky Cabrera (.400, fifth) … Chris Stewart picked off Jason Bartlett at third base in the fifth inning … 10,748 fans endured a heavy cloud burst in the third inning … The Giants are off , but Matt Cain will throw in a minor league game tomorrow to keep in step with his rotation. (That’ll teach you to not sign a hometown discount, Matt.)
