Found April 08, 2012 on PRO Rumors:
The 0-3 San Diego Padres have acquired left-handed pitcher Brain Tallet from the Pirates, Corey Brock of reports. Tallet will report to Triple-A initially but will probably be called up at some point this season, and just like must pitchers on the decline that land in San Diego, he will probably pitch lights out and revitalize his career. The Pirates will either receive cash considerations or a player to be named later for Tallet. In parts of 9 seasons with the Indians, Cardinals and Blue Jays, Tallet has a 16-25 record with a 4.79 era. He has a career 6.6 k/9 and 4.2 b/9 in 460 innings of work. Pittsburgh Pirates: Great Start to Season

Bedard; Image credit Jared Wickerham Even though the cross-state rival Phillies were without star players 1B Ryan Howard and 2B Chase Utley, the Pirates’ found themselves staring down the double-barrel combo of SP Roy Halladay and SP Cliff Lee to kick off their 2012 campaign, not to mention a steadily-improving Vance Worley in game 3. All told, the Pirates stood toe-to-toe with...

By the slimmest of margins…

It wasn’t easy or pretty, but the Pirates found a way to raise the Jolly Roger for the first time this year with a 10 inning 2-1 win over the hated Phillies. Early on, the game looked just like Thursday’s. The Pirate offense was nowhere to be found (again, somewhat excusable against a great pitcher in Cliff Lee–but they were still terrible). Jeff Karstens kept them very much...

An error and a leaky bullpen allows the Pirates to win their second straighth walk-off victory against the Phils as the Phils lose, 5-4.

An error on a strikeout, and a leaky bullpen allows the Pirates to pull off another walk-off win against the Phils as they lose in the bottom of the ninth, 5-4. The Phils took the lead in the first as, with one man on, and with one man out, Hunter Pence hits an RBI double, knocking in Shane Victorino, who had earlier singled, then moved up to second base on Jimmy Rollins’ ground...

Padres 8, Dodgers 4

Clayton Richard and two relievers combined on a four-hitter, Chase Headley hit a grand slam and Andy Parrino had his first big league homer for the San Diego Padres, who beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 8-4 on Sunday to avoid a four-game sweep. Headley's second career slam, off Scott Elbert in the eighth, ended his 0-for-12 slump to start the season. Headley also walked three times...

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Philadelphia Phillies – Game 3

Another close game, but this time the Bucs win! The Bucs win! Seriously though, they can’t afford to lose many games where they only give up one or two runs. And what is more gratifying than a walk-off infield single? It sure was nice of the Pirates to put the Phillies away though, ending a [...]
