After a seven-week hiatus due to an Achilles tendon injury, Padres outfielder Kyle Blanks has been recalled from the 15-day Disabled List and will be in tonight’s starting lineup against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 26 year old outfielder has been sidelined with the injury since Mid-July after being placed on the DL. Blanks was having a pretty solid season with the Padres before undergoing his injury, carrying a .256 batting average with eight homeruns and 34 RBI in 67 games with the club. He also appeared in four rehab games this past week with the Tucson Padres, where he went 1-for-11 (.091 batting average) with a run scored and a walk. The activation of Blanks, of course, warrants the transaction of another player on the 25-man roster. As such the Padres have elected to option right-handed reliever Anthony Bass back down to Triple-A Tucson, who conclude their season Monday in Las Vegas (it will also be the last game before the Tucson club moves to its new location in El Paso, Tex...
