Padres Offensive Goes Missing After Game One Outburst.

After their highest run outburst of the 2012 season, the Padres offense went in the tank, scoring only one run in the final three games. The loss was the Padres sixth in their first seven on this 10-game road trip. They will head to Chicago to face the floundering Cubs for a three-game series at Wrigley Field. Below is a recap of the Padres disappointing series against the Mets at...

Daily Friar 5.29.12

It's crazy really the trend that the Padres are on right now. If the pitching is phenomenal and only gives up two runs, the offense gets shut out. But if the offense is on fire for the one day a week, then the pitching falters and gives up a ton of runs. Such was the case yesterday. The Padres exploded for runs, much like the first game in New York. But unlike the first game...

MadFriars’ Farm Report: May 26

A clean sweep on the negative side as all four Padres’ farm teams went down last night with particularly tough days for the Storm and TinCaps. On the positive side Cody Decker hit his first home run in the Pacific Coast League and Yasmani Grandal continues to rake. Also Jaff Decker is getting closer in San Antonio but is still under .200.

Bird in Wrigley Field infield nearly gets hit by batted ball during Cubs/Padres (Video)

We've seen already some interesting baseball moments with birds and the below video is another one to add to the collection. During Monday's Cubs/Padres game, a bird somehow made it onto the infield during the seventh inning when San Diego's Everth Cabrera was at the plate. Then, a batted ball from Cabrera nearly hit the bird but ended up in the glove of Cubs 3rd...

Padres activate Quentin

The San Diego Padres no longer have to wait to see what Carlos Quentin can contribute. Quentin was activated from the 15-day disabled list before Monday’s game against the Chicago Cubs. One of Baseball’s Wacky Rules

I saw the Mets play the Padres on Friday, and something strange happened. I’d always thought a run that scored on an inning-ending play only counted if the third out had been made on a tag. A force out means no run, right? Wrong. Get this: in the first inning, Dillon Gee walked the first batter, Will Venable, and got the next one out on a pop-up before giving up a single to Yonder...

Daily Friar 5.28.12

Happy Memorial Day to all the vets and active duty members out there. I hope you all have a wonderful day, and I hope that we alll take the time to remember the sacrifices that were made for us. The Padres offense is disgustingly horrible. It’s downright pathetic right now. I don’t know who you want to put the blame on, but something isn’t right. The team finished up the series...

Epstein, Hoyer have their say before Cubs finally win

A 12-game losing streak and a return to Wrigley Field brought the bosses out on Monday. Team president Theo Epstein and general manager Jed Hoyer met the media. They were on-message, saying they were as frustrated as the fans by the team's losing ways but that the Cubs' long-term plan for success remains intact. "It's got to be frustrating," Epstein said...
