The Padres failed to win yet another series, dropping their first two games of the series before in the winning the finale to the visiting Nationals. The Friars will hit the road again, heading up north to San Francisco to face the Giants, who lost their first two to Cincinnati before winning their last as well on Thursday. A change of scenery will be nice for the Padres but they will surely not be greeted with open arms from the boisterous Giants fans. Below is a recap of their frustrating series against the Washington Nationals.April 24th, 2012 Nationals 3, Padres 1WP Gio Gonzalez (2-0) 6IP 2H 0R 0ER 2BB 6K 0HR LP Clayton Richard (1-2) 6.1IP 3H 2R 2ER 5BB 6K 0HR S Henry Rodriguez (5) 1IP 0H 0R 0ER 0BB 1K 0HRNationals’ new starter Gio Gonzalez dominated the Padres batters, surrendering only two hits over six innings to lead Washington to a victory on Tuesday night, 3-1 over San Diego. Padres right-hander Dustin Moseley has had surgery on his right shoulder and is expected to miss the rest of the season.
Moseley had extensive damage to his rotator cuff and labrum. He made just one start, against Los Angeles on April 7. He was placed on the disabled list the next day and an MRI exam revealed the damage.
Moseley had season-ending surgery on his left shoulder in...
According to the San Diego Union Tribune, the Padres are currently considering adopting an adjustment in the dimensions of their home ballpark.
“We’re open-minded and we’re seriously considering it,” Padres interim CEO Tom Garfinkel said Tuesday.
“I do believe it is too extreme right now. It will still be a pitcher’s ballpark. But a hitter should be rewarded if he...
The Padres acquired Mark Kotsay as a free agent last winter with hopes he would deliver leadership in the clubhouse and provide some much-needed help from the left side of the plate off the bench.
Well, nothing helps boost the morale of a 5-14 team quite like a game-winning, two-run, pinch-hit double, which is what Kotsay delivered in the eighth inning Thursday night to help the...
The Padres have placed Micah Owings on the 15-day Disabled List with a strained right forearm. In addition, Dustin Moseley has been placed on the 60-day Disabled List and have selected RHP Dale Thayer from Tuscon. Yesterday, Moseley had season-ending surgery to repair his strained right shoulder (throwing arm). Owings in his six relief appearances for the Padres has a 2.79 ERA in...
Much like baseballs hit, the Friars let another series slip from their mitts this afternoon as the Padres lose to the Nationals 7-2. Padres look to avoid the sweep tomorrow at 7:05 PM

San Diego Padres right-handed pitcher Micah Owings has been placed on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained right forearm, the team announced Thursday. The team called up right-hander Dale Thayer from Triple-A Tucson to take his place on the roster. The club also moved right-handed pitcher Dustin Moseley to the 60-day disabled list after he underwent season-ending...
Matt Andriese leads The Storm to their 7th straight win with 7 shutout innings. The Missions eek out an 11 inning win over Frisco behind big performances from Nathan Freiman and Ali Solis. The Padres couldn't extend their 2 game winning streak to 3 last night. After a pitchers duel between Clayton Richard and Gio Gonzalez ended in Richard throwing one too many pitches. The homplate umpire was of no help last night either. Calling a balk on Richard that the first base umpire didn't even call. Then calling a ball way off the plate a strike to get Cameron Maybin...
Petco Park would probably get alot of votes for best looking ballpark in the majors. There’s a good chance it would also be pretty high on the list of places pitchers enjoy taking the mound. The current dimensions of the park are 322 feet down the right field line, 382 feet in the right field gap, 400 feet in right-center, [...]
Cole Hamels is SUPPOSED to be one of the top free agents available at the end of this baseball season, but not if the San Diego Padres have anything to say about it. Upon Colbert Hamels' (Colbert!) birth, his mother, an employee of the Padres at the time, signed a LIFETIME contract for a robust $1 with the Padres then-head of marketing Andy Strasberg. Makes that $2M bonus Hamels...
Pinch-hitter Mark Kotsay's two-run double off reliever Tyler Clippard in the eighth inning lifted the San Diego Padres to a 2-1 victory over the Washington Nationals on Thursday night.
With the Padres trailing 1-0, Orlando Hudson drew a one-out walk and Cameron Maybin dropped down a bunt single against Clippard (1-2). Kotsay followed with a double to right-center to put San...
Yasmani Grandal hit a homer in his first plate appearance in three weeks to help set the tone for Tucson. Juan Oramas continues to struggle, digging a hole so deep even Nate Freiman can't climb out. Matt Jackson was dealing in Elsinore, while the TinCaps didn't give John much to watch.
It's no secret that the Padres have been awful this season. They have yet to win a series, the best they've done is tie with the Phillies. I do have to give them credit though, they have done a decent job at winning at least one game to avoid a sweep. Of the 6 series that we've played so far, only 1 has been a sweep. The other have been 2-1 losses (minus the tie). The...
John Moores may be desperately looking to sell the San Diego Padres, but that doesn't mean he is going to sit around and be a lame duck owner until that happens. No, according to a report yesterday, the Padres are seriously considering moving the fences in at the cavernous Petco Park.
This is not a new idea though. The Padres have toyed with the idea before, which is why the...
Beemer Weems and Yasmani Grandal come back to help the realing T-Pads offense...score 1 run. Missions go to 13 innings. Storm put their week long winning streak on the line. Finally TinCaps get Hedges off the DL and put Frank Garces on the mound looking for a win.
