San Diego Padres pitcher Cory Luebke will miss the rest of the season.

Luebke will have season-ending surgery later this week. He will have surgery on his injured left elbow.

He has not pitched in a game since April 27th. He is expected to have the surgery on Wednesday, as he repairs a tear in his ulnar collateral ligament.

He had a 3-1 record with a 2.61 ERA this season. He made five starts, before being placed on the 15-day disabled list on May 2nd.

He was moved to the 60-day disabled list on Sunday. The move allowed the Padres to add Matt Palmer from Triple-A.

Daily Friar 5.21.12

The Padres can be such a surprise sometimes. In a game that came down to 13 innings you had to begin to wonder if the Padres would be able to ever score another run. After being blown out on Friday and winning on Saturday, Sunday's rubber match had to come down to 4 extra innings in order to find a series winner. And wouldn't you know it, the Padres prevailed! This is quite...

Daily Friar 5.20.12

For the first time since 2006 the Padres were able to beat the Angels. It was a fantastic win to say the least. The Padres played Padres baseball: great pitching, great fielding (one error) and some timely hitting. Alexi Amarista was the spark plug for the team as he was always on base and scored 2 of the 3 Padres runs. I for one am very excited to watch him play in Petco for years...
