A guy with a theatrical voice should have grabbed hold of the Citi Field microphone before Tuesday night's game and said "Playing the role of Hunter Pence tonight will be Angel Pagan."
Pence cooled off netting "only" an RBI single in an 8-5 victory against the Mets so former Met Angel Pagan carried the offense for a night.
Pagan walked twice singled tripled home a run and hit a solo homer that broke a 4-4 tie in the seventh inning. He needed a double for his first career cycle but was on deck when pinch-hitter Roger Kieschnick struck out to end the ninth.
"It would have been nice to have a cycle on Roberto Clemente's day" Pagan said referring to Major League Baseball's choice of Tuesday to honor the late Hall of Famer from Puerto Rico.
"It was pretty awesome to have a night like this on the day they're remembering the best player from my country."
