Found December 28, 2012 on Pro Sports Daily:
Tyler Pastornicky began last season as the Braves' starting shortstop. Now his future in Atlanta appears clouded at best. The Braves no longer view Pastornicky, who turned 23 in December, as even an adequate backup at shortstop. He is likely to spend 2013 at Class AAA Gwinnett, shuttling between second base and the outfield. Pastornicky's diminished standing was shown when the Braves signed utility man Ramiro Pena as infield insurance. Pena, 27, spent parts of four seasons with the New York Yankees, and he can back up Andrelton Simmons at shortstop while also filling in at other positions. The Braves felt that they needed some cover at shortstop because Paul Janish is unlikely to be ready to start the seasons after undergoing labrum surgery on his left shoulder in October. Simmons, 23, was promoted from Class AA Mississippi last June to take over for Pastornicky, and he dazzled until breaking his left hand. When he went down, the Braves acquired Janish from the Cin...

Chipper Jones fails at B-Ball hoop assembly

Chipper Jones has been doing a good job keeping himself busy in the first few months of his retirement.  He's been out and about with his new Playboy model girlfriend, spending time promoting his "VIP" Super Bowl party and generally getting chubbier.  But it isn't all glitz and glamor for the future Hall of Famer.  It turns out that when it comes to putting things...

Chipper Jones' assembled basketball hoop has one fatal flaw (Photo)

Recently retired Atlanta Braves star Chipper Jones used a stepladder while putting together a driveway basketball hoop. Jones was able to put the hoop together properly, except for one small detail: What's wrong with this pic folks? Never said I was the sharpest tool in the shed. D--- ladder!!! Lol twitter.com/RealCJ10/statu…— Chipper Jones (@RealCJ10) December 27, 2012...

Chipper Jones Tweets Funny Picture in His Garage

If I wasn't as big of an Atlanta Braves fan as I am I would say that I'm happy that Chipper Jones retired.  Guy has nothing but free time, and uses it very very well to entertain us.  First he started dating playboy model Lexi Ray, then he made us feel like crap with pictures of all the big deer he shoots, and last but not least he gives us a good laugh in his garage....

Burning questions for Braves, Simmons

In his literary masterpiece "The Art of Fielding" author Chad Harbach summed up the position as well as anyone. "The shortstop is a source of stillness at the center of the defense," Harbach wrote. "He projects this stillness and his teammates respond." The Braves have been anything but still at shortstop of late, throwing everybody but the batboy...

Photo: Braves set to wear atrocious batting practice hats next year

Each of Major League Baseball's 30 teams are set to unveil new batting practice caps for 2013. Most of the lids will feature new designs, while others will stick to more traditional looks. The Atlanta Braves are one of those teams who will be scrapping tradition in favor of a mascot-inspired logo. Their new design features a screaming Indian instead of the cursive "A...

Chipper Jones tries to set up portable basketball hoop, gets it stuck in ladder (Picture)

Atlanta Braves ramp up the racism with new caps

Was there really a point to this? Bringing back the screaming savage indian of years past? It’s bad enough that racism like this existed for so long, it was Atlanta’s logo from 1967 to 1989. The mohawked image first made an appearance in 1954 during the Braves’ Milwaukee days. From Big League Stew: The re-emergence of the questionable logo is surprising given that the Cleveland...

Reasons Mets should take a chance on Jair Jurrjens

There is very little that can explain what has happened to former Braves RHP Jair Jurrjens. It was only 2011 when Jurrjens was an All Star pitcher and some could make the case that he could have started the game. He struggled in three of his last four starts that season, before his season was finished after his August 30th start. Jurrjens and the Braves agreed to a $5.5 million...

Braves to re-release 'Screaming Savage' logo?

The Atlanta Braves may be bringing back the 'Screaming Savage.' Atlanta plans to re-release the logo the one it used sporadically up until 1989 for team batting practice caps, according to uniform guru Paul Lukas of Uni Watch. The image of the mohawked Native American figure dates back to the franchise's days in Milwaukee, where it first showed up in 1954. It is believed...

Source: Yanks, Diaz agree to terms

The New York Yankees, needing a right-handed hitting outfielder, identified one potential solution Wednesday but are still looking for others. The team agreed to terms with Matt Diaz on a minor league contract, according to a source. Diaz, 34, will receive an invitation to major league spring training. Last season, in 51 games with the Atlanta Braves, Diaz hit .222 with two home...
