On this Memorial Day — a day set aside to focus our attention and our appreciation for the service men and women who dutifully protect our nation — I would like to point out a similarly constant source of awesome who has quietly made being a south sider something to brag about. His name is Paul Konerko. “Paulie” (as he is affectionately called by White Sox fans) has done nothing in Chicago but hit 400 homeruns, drive in 1265 runs, hit .284 and carry an OPS of .865, all while flying way under the national radar of the worldwide leader in schlub and other poignant media corporations. Oh you can bet opposing pitchers know who he is, but his public persona is a bit of a mystery. He’s a quiet, reserved guy. He’s not out gallivanting with actresses and pop stars. He isn’t taking his shirt off and posing for GQ. He doesn’t run his mouth to the press, or at umpires, or… at all. He’s the lunch pail baseballer. He shows up to work, works hard, then quietly goes about his business. He’s the ty...

Paul Konerko and Father Time

Paul Konerko is one of the best hitters in baseball. While he’s rarely mentioned among players like Josh Hamilton, Matt Kemp or Ryan Braun, Konerko has been a an important presence in the middle of the Chicago White Sox lineup. In fact, this season, he leads the American League with a .489 wOBA and a .399 batting average. What’s even more amazing about Konerko’s success is...

Bob Saget Sings National Anthem at White Sox Game, Surprisingly Isn't Too Awful (Video)

Bob Saget took a quick break from dropping f-bombs and dirty jokes on Saturday to pay some homage to the land of the free and home of the brave. Saget sang the national anthem at Saturday's White Sox game, making for an interesting pregame scene. Perhaps the most shocking part of the whole thing, though, is that he actually didn't do all that bad. By now means was it the...

Moore opens home series vs. hot White Sox

An offensive surge has propelled the Chicago White Sox to their longest winning streak of the season. A solid start from Chris Sale helped the club begin its run. Looking for a sixth consecutive victory, Sale and the White Sox face a stiff challenge Monday in the opener of a three-game road set against the Tampa Bay Rays. Chris Sale’s Dominant Memorial Day

Three weeks ago, it looked like Chris Sale would no longer be starting games for the Chicago White Sox. Yesterday, he struck out over half the batters he faced in 7.1 innings. It’s been an interesting year already for the sinewy blue chip. Sale, 23, had immediate success in moving to the starting rotation after spending the entirety of his two major league seasons overwhelming...

GIFcap: Adam Dunn hits Matt Moore’s scoreboard face, Justin Maxwell clears the bleachers

Adam Dunn certainly has his groove back as he destroys a Matt Moore fastball off of Matt Moore’s face over the bleachers in right field. Speaking of over the bleachers, Justin Maxwell did it at Coors Field. I like to imagine whoever that is in the dugout saying, “What a ******* monstrosity!” :o

Series Spotlight: Chicago White Sox at Tampa Bay Rays (May 28-30)

The Chicago White Sox are one of the more surprising teams in baseball, as they current sit a half game out of first place in the AL Central, and their +30 run differential is second best in the American League behind just the Texas Rangers. The White Sox have used a good blend of both hitting and pitching to contend a year after losing 83 games, a season that cost manager Ozzie...
