Today marks the unveiling of the 2012 Baseball Hall of Fame class, and if it were up to one ESPN reported, 2003 AL batting champ Bill Mueller would be enshrined.

ESPN posted the ballots of its eligible voting staffers, and Pedro Gomez cast the lone vote for Mueller. That's the same Mueller who hit .291 for his career, along with a robust 85 homers. He did have a patient eye, and was a solid third baseman, but I think we can all agree that Pedro must either be close friends with Mueller, or didn't know how the ballot was laid out.

Barry Larkin was the only player to get ESPN's staff full approval, receiving 89% of votes. Many expect him to be the only player elected today, although there is some support for Jack Morris.

If it were up to me, I'd put Jeff Bagwell, Tim Raines (Jonah Keri has convinced me), Edgar Martinez, and Mark McGwire in. I'm a child of the steroid era, I just don't get that riled up about it. Plus, Bagwell is only guilt by association, and it's pretty unfair to not allow Edgar Martinez in because he DH'd. Last I checked, DH was an official position in the game. If baseball allows it, the Hall of Fame voters should too.
