Going into September they were at 86 wins and 105 wins seemed realistic.

After clinching their fifth straight National League East crown, beating St. Louis 9-2, the team slumped, losing eight straight games.
They promptly ended the season by sweeping the Braves to finish Atlanta from the playoffs and finishing with their record-setting season.
All euphoria evaporated once the playoffs began as the Phillies lost in five games to the eventual World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals.
In Game 5, Roy Halladay lost, 1-0.
That does not, however, diminish what the Phillies did in the regular season.
