Philly Buster:
Jose Contreras could be sidelined from the Philadelphia Phillies for longer than initially expected. The 39-year old suffered a setback in his attempt to recover from a strained elbow.
Contreras will be flying to Los Angeles to visit with a specialist. This is his second stint already this season on the DL. Contreras was serving as the Phillies’ closer, but in his absence, the Phillies went to Ryan Madson and then Antonio Bastardo when Contreras was injured.
Contreras has a 3.86 ERA in 14 innings this season, and is 5-for-5 in save opportunities.
