Jim Thome is carrying the Philadelphia Phillies on his balky back.  The saying is that the team will find a place for a man with a hot bat.  What will they do with Thoms after interleague play ends?

He now leads the staff with 2 CG’s. He was joined on the top floor by Thome and Ty Wigginton.

Wigginton went yard in the 2nd to provide an early lead. Jim planted a 3-run poke into the flowers to retake the advantage in the 3rd.

Shane Victorino jailed the opposing 2B and 1B with the Big House Key after he was robbed of an infield hit in the 3rd.

The Outhouse was occupied by 3B ump Phil Cuzzy, because he ruled a ball foul that disturbed the leftfield chalk line. He cost Wigginton a double.

The Leather Warehouse again featured Michael Martinez, who prevented an infield knock in the 8th.

In-House News:  Chase Utley went 0 for 3 with 2 free passes at Bright House Field.

WELCOME, NEWCOMERS:

I will publish after every battle that is not washed out. The Phillies finished last summer 42 games over .500, which equaled a year of many positives. I will have many season-long highlights of puzzle pieces, especially important after drubbings and defeats.

Thoms Hits A Souvenir To The Paying Customers In The 3rd For 3 RBI

NITECAP INSIGHT

One Big Bopper:

If you’ve read my recent articles, you know I saw the increase in production with a pure cleanup hitter. Players, like Hunter Pence, would not have to fill roles they aren’t suited for. I did not expect Thome to be this potent, but I did anticipate plenty of support for the hurlers. This happens when regulars are responsible for their own part of the whole. That is the dynamic you’ll see with the return of Utley and Ryan Howard.

J-Roll Cracks A 3rd-Inning Double

The rotation has 2 aces; the relief corps still needs another right-handed arm; the defense is back with Polly Polanco and Martinez. With a power stick in the 4-hole, Pence can return to averaging .300 and clouting 25 annual homeruns. If Thoms could play 5 frames at first twice a week or leftfield for a full 9, he could be sharp enough to pinch hit the other 5-6 days. Plus, there will be a continuation of output after the Toronto series, because the confidence level won’t just end without number 25 in the lineup.

We are lucky to have enjoyed Doc Halladay and Cliff Lee together for an entire summer. Another duo we would entertain is Ryno and Gentleman Jim, which we might get to see once or twice a week for 2-3 months.

MAC:

The program acronym is for Methodical Algorithmic Computerization or Mac.  That is the feed system from Fox Sports that had dogged me for 2 months.  I probed for a compatible solution, and found that I had possibilities 90% of the time.  The rest is luck, which means that you know about half of my articles.  In other words, if a Fox affiliate publishes, that trumps everything else.  The balance is a flip of the coin.  Some of those missed write-ups drew positive responses from other outlets.
