On the surface it doesn’t appear to be a major issue short term for the Philadelphia Phillies, who can promote another young gun, like Jonathan Pettibone. What, firstly, is at Triple-A Lehigh Valley? TAL’S HANDY CAPS WELCOME, NEWCOMERS: By design my articles represent a baseball man’s thinking, the view from the dugout and the GM’s box. Most fans do not consider the budget, prospects on the radar, the organization’s weaknesses, the track record, the competition and the other intangibles. Post time is mostly 5 to 9 pm for the days listed below. May 8 to May 13 A wild-card feature will be published at times. Rosenberg. There are also others to consider:  Ethan Martin and Jesse Biddle. The difficulty is that nobody at Triple-A Lehigh Valley has distinguished themselves, but Pettibone did not do that recently either. Since Halladay’s turn was May 5, there is no elimination for any of the five starters, but the gap between appearances may be a factor. Rube Amaro will probably exclude four to select one, and that will be my approach as well. Cloyd Dials up a 4-seam Fastball at the Bank on September 27 against the Nationals. Martin ranks second behind Biddle in the farm system, and was part of the Shane Victorino trade. He has produced 3 consecutive clunkers, has only 1 decent outing for the year, and he needs improvement to stay at Lehigh Valley. Biddle, on the other hand, has the best numbers but they are for Double-A Reading. However, after coughing up 3 all-earned runs for 0.2 innings in his last start Saturday, he is not at the front of the list. Cloyd and Rosenberg have pitched in Philly, which Amaro will take into consideration. Cloyd has a 2.40 ERA for his last 15 frames over 2 performances after a rocky opening to 2013. Rosenberg has a 3.74 ERA for his last 4 efforts of 21.2 innings, but he inadvertently made the rotation in Lehigh Valley. That said, Joe Savery will fill in out of ‘pen until Friday, which would be the next open turn for the staff. Over his first 19 frames, Morgan had a 1.42 ERA for 3 of his 6 games and a 6.89 ERA thereafter during his most recent 15.2 innings. That stated, this is his first taste of Triple-A ball but he began last season with Single-A Clearwater. If Halladay misses significant time, Morgan with 3 solid results could replace Rosenberg or Cloyd. Pettibone, on the other hand, has earned the final slot after John Lannan returns until Halladay is healthy. When Lannan comes off the DL,  Rosenberg can work out of the bullpen, and with his potential that may tip the scales slightly in his favor.   Phillies e-mail notification: Email Notifications   LINK-UP BELOW: A link for Phillies e-mail notification is provided above and below. What Should The Phillies Do About Roy Halladay?

Roy Halladay has been a completely different pitcher for the Phillies this season. His record his 2-4. His ERA is 8.65 which is the worst in the National League and the second worst in baseball. This is something the Phillies are not used to. In yesterday’s game against the Marlins, Halladay couldn’t get through the third inning. He gave up nine runs on only four hits. This didn’t look...

Now, the soon-to-be 36-year-old has landed on the disabled list with an unspecificed right shoulder injury. (via MLB) After allowing 9 runs in just two innings, the Phillies ace has finally come clean. Roy Halladay told the media about his shoulder discomfort after the loss on Sunday. “I woke up, didn't really think anything of it, just regular soreness, it just kind of progressed over the last two weeks or so. It's right shoulder discomfort. I’m going to have it looked at...

Oh, Doctor

It was supposed to be an easy series win, maybe even a sweep for the Phillies. It was supposed to be a redemption start for Roy Halladay, who got shellacked in his last start in Cleveland. It was neither of those things. What it was, was painful. Doc walked the very first hitter he faced [...]

West Coast Winds of Change

In only a few short days, many things have changed for the Phillies. Roy Halladay was placed on the DL with what is still a mystery injury. The entire team appeared lifeless and ready to give up. Then a cross-country road trip suddenly gave the Phillies unexpected energy. They have taken the first 2 games of this series against the Giants who were the hottest team in baseball coming...

Tyler Cloyd Slated to Start Friday; Joe Savery May Remain With Team

When Roy Halladay was placed on the 15-Day DL, speculation immediately began as to who would be called up to take his place in the rotation. Injuries won't force Phils to push Biddle

With both John Lannan and Roy Halladay going down with injuries, the domino effect is opening some holes in the minor league system. Those holes though won't pressure the Phillies into pushing Jesse Biddle.
