Kevin Frandsen, an infielder for the Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs, was just suspended for 50 games, according to MLB.com’s Todd Zolecki. Frandsen violated the minor-league drug policy by testing positive for Ritalin. Frandsen was a member of the San Diego Padres for most of spring training, before the team released him and he signed with the Phillies. He is doing well so far in 30 games, with a .321 batting average. Frandsen has played for the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim for five MLB seasons, and has logged a .243 career batting average to go with seven home runs in 568 at-bats. Frandsen is a utility infielder who can play first, second, and third base, as well as shortstop and both corner outfield positions. Frandsen is the second member of the Philadelphia Phillies organization to be suspended this year for performance-enhancing drugs.
