The Philadelphia Phillies activated third baseman Placido Polanco off the 15-day disabled list Monday.
Polanco has been sidelined since Aug. 7 with a sports hernia. He has considered undergoing surgery has decided to put if off until after the season.
The 35-year-old Polanco is hitting .275 with four homers and 40 RBIs in 345 at-bats this season.
He will take the roster spot of shortstop Jimmy Rollins, who went on the DL Monday with a strained groin.
