During Monday's Braves-Phillies game, I was forced to watch the game on the Phillies local station as opposed to the national feed on ESPN due to my proximity to Philadelphia. And on that local feed, I saw something that blew my mind: a series of commercials starring Phillies catcher Erik Kratz advertising turkey bacon.  The amazing Phillies blog Zoo With Roy has unearthed the three ads, and they're pretty amazing. Here's the first ad, featuring Kratz and an animated turkey. That's pretty amazing. I also like the phrase "catcher for Philadelphia", due to the likely lack of MLB approval for the ads. The other two ads are after the jump. Loyal fans = loyal customers? But hey, at least Kratz is skilled enough to barehand the newspaper that the papergirl throws to him. Wait, what's a newspaper? And there's your obligatory, awkward commercial with Kratz reciting the benefits to eating turkey bacon instead of regular bacon, complete with an umpire lecturing him about how eating regular bacon is a bad thing. For the record, I'm a huge fan of turkey bacon (and turkey sausage, for that matter). I think the pairing of Kratz, a 32-year old minor league journeyman with 62 career games in the majors, and Godshall's Meats is a little odd, considering Kratz's very low place on the totem pole and the near-niche status of turkey bacon. But hey, whatever works. [Zoo With Roy] [follow]
